What is the minimum age for the workshop?

Our Limerick school holiday workshops are designed for everyone aged 8 and up! We use specific techniques and smaller spray cans that are easier for younger hands to manage. It's a fantastic way for kids and teens to step away from the screens and engage in a high-energy, tactile activity that builds confidence and creative thinking in a safe, supervised environment.

Do the kids need any previous art experience?

Not at all! Our professional artists specialize in teaching beginners. We start with the absolute basics—how to hold the can, controlling pressure, and making simple lines. By the end of the session, even those who thought they weren't 'artistic' will have created a piece of street art they are proud of. It’s all about the experience and having a laugh!

Is it safe for children to use spray paint?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide all participants with high-quality FFP3 respiratory masks, protective gloves, and disposable ponchos to keep clothes clean. Our spray paints are selected for their safety standards, and our artists are trained to supervise the group closely, ensuring everyone uses the equipment correctly and stays within the designated painting zones.

What should the participants wear?

We recommend wearing 'old reliables'—clothes you wouldn't mind getting a stray speck of paint on. While we provide protective ponchos and gloves, graffiti is a messy business! Comfortable shoes are a must as you'll be on your feet moving along the wall. If it’s an outdoor session, definitely bring a warm hoodie or a jacket depending on the Shannon breeze.

How long does the graffiti session last?

The standard school holiday workshop lasts about 2 hours. This gives us enough time for a safety briefing, a crash course in techniques, sketching out designs, and the final 'grand production' on the wall or individual boards. We find this timeframe is the sweet spot for keeping energy levels high and focus sharp without anyone getting tired.

What happens if it rains on the day?

Limerick weather can be a bit unpredictable! We have several indoor partner locations across the city where we can host workshops safely away from the rain. If you have an outdoor spot in mind, we always have a backup plan or a rescheduling option ready. We make sure the fun doesn't stop just because of a few Irish clouds.

Do they get to keep their artwork?

One of our favorite things is that everyone gets to take something home! Depending on the package chosen, participants will either take home their individual canvas creations or high-quality photos of the large-scale mural they helped create. It serves as a great souvenir of their holiday break in Limerick and a reminder of their new skills.

Step by step

The meetup: We gather at our Limerick creative hub where you'll meet our pro graffiti artists and get a quick intro to the world of street art.
Safety first: Everyone gets geared up with masks, gloves, and ponchos. We explain how to use the cans responsibly and safely.
Mastering the can: Your artist demonstrates 'can control'—teaching you how to make thin lines, fat drips, and smooth fills.
Sketching the vision: Use our pens and paper to map out your tag or character. Our pros will help you refine your ideas.
The first layer: Time to hit the wall! You'll start by outlining your piece and getting a feel for the spray pressure.
Adding the 'pop': Learn how to use highlights, lowlights, and '3D shadows' to make your artwork jump off the surface.
The master outline: We show you how to do a clean final outline to make the whole piece look sharp and professional.
Final touches: Add those little details—stars, bubbles, or splashes—that make the piece uniquely yours.
Photo op: We finish with a group photo in front of the masterpiece before we pack up and celebrate the new skills!

Local culture

Limerick has a vibrant and growing street art scene that provides the perfect backdrop for our workshops. From the incredible murals of the Draw Out project that have transformed the city's gable ends into masterpieces, to the hidden gems along the banks of the Shannon, the city is bursting with urban inspiration. We often draw inspiration from the city's rich history and its modern edge—blending traditional Irish themes with bold, contemporary graffiti styles. 🇮🇪

Fun Fact: Did you know Limerick is home to some of the largest street art murals in Ireland? Walking through the city feels like visiting an open-air gallery, making it the ideal place to learn the craft ourselves! 🏰

Whether we are working near the Milk Market or tucked away in a creative studio space, the energy of Limerick's creative community is always present. We love helping the next generation of Treaty City artists find their voice and add a bit more colour to our local streets.
