How long does a typical primary school graffiti workshop last?

Most primary school workshops in Limerick last between 1.5 to 2 hours. This timeframe is perfect for keeping energetic students engaged without losing their focus. We start with a brief history of street art, move into technique practice, and spend the final hour creating the main masterpiece. We can also adjust the schedule to fit into your specific school day or double-up sessions for multiple classes.

Is the spray paint safe for primary school children?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls for every student. Our professional artists are highly experienced in working with children and ensure all spray cans are handled responsibly. We also use low-odour paints whenever possible and prefer working in well-ventilated outdoor areas or large open halls to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Do we need a dedicated wall at our school in Limerick?

You don't need a permanent wall to host us! While we love painting school murals, we often bring large mobile wooden canvases or use special stretch foil between pillars. This means the children can create large-scale art that can be moved or displayed elsewhere. If you fancy a permanent piece of art for the playground, we can certainly arrange that on a designated brick or concrete wall.

Do the students need to have any previous drawing skills?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our artist-educators break down the process into simple steps that even the youngest students can follow. From drawing basic 'tags' to filling in colours and adding 'highlights', we guide them through every stage. It’s all about building confidence and showing the kids that everyone has a creative spark inside them.

What should the students wear on the day of the workshop?

We recommend old clothes and sturdy shoes, just in case! While we provide full-body protective suits (overalls), kids have a magical way of getting paint in unexpected places. It's best if they wear something you don't mind getting a little 'colourful'. Our water-based paints are easier to clean, but it's always better to be safe than sorry when dealing with a class full of mini-Picassos!

How much does a graffiti workshop cost for a school group?

Our pricing in Limerick typically ranges from €30 to €60 per student. The final cost depends on the total number of participants, the amount of materials needed, and whether you want portable canvases or a permanent mural. We offer special rates for larger school groups and multiple-class bookings. For an exact figure tailored to your school's budget, just request a quick custom quote!

What materials does the school need to provide?

We take care of everything! Graffitifun provides all the professional spray cans in a rainbow of colours, caps, masks, gloves, and protective suits. We also bring the canvases or foil if we aren't painting a wall. The only thing the school needs to provide is an outdoor space (or a very well-ventilated indoor space) and a whole lot of enthusiastic energy from the students!

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your students in Limerick? It’s more than just painting; it's a confidence-building explosion of colour! Here’s why schools love us:

🔥 Unmatched Engagement: Even the quietest students find their voice when they've got a spray can in their hand!
🤝 Teamwork in Action: Creating a massive mural requires communication, compromise, and working together toward one giant goal.
💡 Boosts Creativity: We move beyond the "standard" art curriculum to explore modern, urban styles that kids actually find cool.
💪 Instant Pride: There’s nothing like the "look what I made" moment when the masks come off and the masterpiece is revealed.
✨ Hassle-Free for Teachers: We bring everything and handle the setup/cleanup. You just sit back and watch the magic happen!
🛡️ Certified Pro Instructors: Our artists aren't just talented; they're experienced educators who know how to keep a class safe and focused.

Step by step

Intro & History: We kick things off with a kid-friendly chat about the history of graffiti and how it evolved into modern street art.
Safety First: Every student gets geared up with protective suits, gloves, and masks while we explain the "golden rules" of spray painting.
The Sketching Phase: Before touching a can, the kids brainstorm ideas and sketch out their designs on paper to plan their masterpiece.
First Sprays: Under expert guidance, students learn basic techniques like making thin lines, thick fills, and "dusty" gradients.
Outline & Fill: The real fun begins! Students start applying their chosen colours to the wall or canvas, learning how to layer paint.
Adding Details: We teach the tricks of the trade, like adding "shines," "shadows," and 3D effects to make the letters pop.
The Big Reveal: We step back, remove the protective gear, and admire the massive collective artwork created by the class.
Group Photos: We capture the moment with professional-style photos of the kids standing proudly in front of their new creation.

Local culture

Limerick has a soul that's built on creativity and resilience—from its legendary rugby spirit to the colourful murals popping up in the city centre. We love bringing our workshops to the "Treaty City" because the students here have a fantastic sense of community and a unique local wit that translates brilliantly into art. Whether we're inspired by the Shannon river or the vibrant atmosphere of the Milk Market, there's no shortage of local vibes to tap into.

Fun Fact: Did you know Limerick is home to "Draw Out," an incredible urban art initiative that has brought massive, world-class murals to walls all over the city? Your students might just be the next generation of artists featured on those walls! 🎨
