How long does the graffiti workshop usually last?

Most school holiday workshops in Kilkenny run between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. This gives us plenty of time to cover the basics, practice some 'tagging' styles, and complete a final masterpiece. We don't rush the process because we want everyone to leave feeling like a pro. If you have a larger group, we can adjust the timing to fit your holiday schedule perfectly.

Is it safe for children and teenagers?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective overalls for all participants. Our professional artists are trained to supervise the use of spray cans carefully, and we always work in well-ventilated outdoor spaces or suitable indoor halls. It’s all about having a blast while keeping everyone safe and sound during their school break.

Do participants need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for everyone, from total beginners to budding young artists. Our Kilkenny team will walk you through every step, from how to hold the spray can to creating cool 3D effects. You'll be amazed at how quickly you pick up the techniques. It's the perfect chance to try something completely new during the school holidays.

What should we wear to the workshop?

We suggest wearing comfortable clothes and old trainers that you don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on. While we provide full protective gear like overalls, spray paint is permanent and has a way of finding its way onto sleeves or shoes! Think of it as your 'artist's uniform' for the day. No need for anything fancy—just stuff you can move around in easily.

What happens if it rains on the day?

Rain is no stranger to Kilkenny! If the weather turns, we usually have a backup plan. We can often move the workshop to a sheltered outdoor area or a suitable indoor space. Because we have multiple artists available, we are very flexible with rescheduling if the Great Irish Weather really doesn't cooperate. We'll make sure the creative fun happens regardless of the clouds.

Do I need to pay in advance?

We believe in our experience so much that we don't require upfront payments. You can settle the bill after the workshop is finished. This makes it super easy for parents or group organisers to manage their holiday budget without stress. We accept various payment methods, ensuring the focus remains on the creativity and the fun rather than the paperwork.

What materials are included in the price?

We provide everything! This includes premium spray paint in a huge range of vibrant colours, caps/nozzles, canvases or boards to paint on, and all necessary safety gear. You don't need to bring a single thing except your enthusiasm and maybe a few ideas. We even bring some 'inspiration sheets' to help get those creative juices flowing from the very start.

Step by step

Intro & safety briefing: We kick off with a quick chat about safety, gear, and how to use the spray cans properly.
Sketching the vision: Grab a marker and paper! We start by sketching out your name or a cool character to plan your piece.
Can control basics: Our artists show you the "thin to thick" line techniques and how to control the pressure of the spray.
First layers: You'll start by "filling in" the large areas of your design with your favourite vibrant colours.
The outline: This is where the magic happens. We'll teach you how to add a sharp outline to make your art pop.
Adding flare: Learn techniques like 3D shadowing, highlights, and "splatter" effects for that authentic street art look.
Final touches: Add your "tag" or signature to the piece to claim it as your own original creation.
Photo op: We take group photos of everyone with their completed masterpieces—perfect for sharing!
Take it home: You get to keep your canvas, a unique souvenir of your best school holiday ever in Kilkenny.

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Kilkenny might be famous for its medieval "Black and Amber" history, but there is a buzzing contemporary art scene hidden behind those ancient stone walls. While the city celebrates its heritage at Kilkenny Castle, we’re busy helping the next generation create a new kind of history through street art. We love the contrast of bringing vibrant, modern graffiti to the winding laneways and creative hubs of Co. Kilkenny. 🎨

Fun Fact: While Kilkenny is known as the "Marble City" due to its distinctive black limestone, did you know it’s also one of Ireland’s biggest creative hubs? Every year, the city transforms during the Arts Festival, making it the perfect backdrop for your own artistic journey!

Whether we're setting up near the banks of the River Nore or at one of the city's many community centres, the local atmosphere always adds a special spark to our sessions. It's not just about the paint; it's about being part of the creative energy that makes Kilkenny so unique! 🏰
