Do the kids need any previous art experience?

Absolutely! Our Kilkenny youth projects are designed for all skill levels. Most participants have never touched a spray can before. Our professional artists provide a full safety briefing and hands-on demonstrations, teaching everyone from basic 'tagging' to advanced 'piece' techniques. By the end of the session, everyone will have created something they can be proud of, regardless of their artistic background.

Is the spray paint safe for young people?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective overalls to keep everyone safe and clean. We use low-odour professional spray paint, and our workshops are ideally held in well-ventilated or outdoor spaces. Our instructors are experienced in managing groups of young people and ensuring that all equipment is used responsibly and safely throughout the entire duration of the project.

How long does a typical youth workshop last?

A standard youth project workshop in Kilkenny typically lasts between 2 and 3 hours. This allows enough time for the intro, sketching, practicing techniques, and then completing the final large-scale mural. For larger community projects or more detailed murals, we can also arrange full-day sessions or multi-day workshops to dive deeper into the creative process.

Where in Kilkenny do the workshops take place?

We are incredibly flexible! We can host the workshop at your community centre, youth club, or a suitable outdoor space in Kilkenny. If you don't have a venue, we can help source a local spot or even bring mobile graffiti walls to you. As long as we have a bit of space and some fresh air, we can turn almost any location into a professional street art studio.

What is your payment policy for community groups?

No upfront payment is required! We believe in the quality of our workshops, so you only pay after the event is completed. This makes it much easier for youth organisations and community groups to manage their budgets. Once the workshop is finished and everyone is happy with their masterpiece, we will send over the invoice for payment. Simple and stress-free!

What should the participants wear?

We recommend wearing old clothes and comfortable shoes. While we provide protective overalls and gear, spray paint is permanent and has a knack for finding its way onto sleeves or shoes! It's best to come prepared to get a little bit messy while you work on your street art project. We’ll take care of all the art supplies and safety equipment.

Step by step

Initial creative chat: We start by discussing the theme of your project. Whether it's about local Kilkenny pride or a specific social message, we help the youth group find their voice.
Safety and gear up: Every participant gets kitted out with professional masks, gloves, and overalls. Safety first, style second!
The basics of 'the can': Our pro artists demonstrate how to hold the spray can, control the pressure, and create different line widths and effects.
Sketching the vision: Before hitting the wall, the group works on paper to refine their tags and characters, planning out the layout of the mural.
Practice run: We start on practice boards so everyone can get a feel for the paint without any pressure. It’s all about building confidence.
The main event: The group moves to the main wall or canvas, layering colours and bringing the collective vision to life in vibrant detail.
Finishing touches: Our artists help the participants add outlines, highlights, and 'force fields' to make the artwork pop.
The big reveal: We step back, admire the hard work, and take group photos with the finished masterpiece!

Our graffiti workshops are fully self-contained and professional. Here is what you can expect:

Local culture

Kilkenny might be famous for its medieval history and the Black Abbey, but there is a bubbling modern creative energy here too. From the vibrant murals seen during the Kilkenny Arts Festival to the hidden gems in the city's side streets, street art is becoming a key part of the local visual landscape. We love bringing our workshops to this historic backdrop, blending the old-world charm of the "Marble City" with the cutting-edge style of modern graffiti.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Kilkenny is often called the "Marble City" because of the local black limestone that shines like marble when polished? Imagine how well those vibrant neon spray colours look against that iconic dark stone! 🎨

Pricing

Our Kilkenny youth project workshops are competitively priced to suit community budgets. Prices typically range from €30 to €60 per person, depending on the number of participants, the duration of the project, and the materials required (like custom canvases or large-scale wooden walls).

We believe in transparency and ease—that's why we offer a no-upfront-payment policy. 🎨 You only pay once the creative work is done! Ready to get a price for your specific group?
