Do the participants need any prior art experience?

Absolutely! No prior artistic experience is needed to have a great time. Our professional artists are experts at breaking down complex mural techniques into simple, manageable steps. Whether a young person thinks they can't draw a stick figure or they are already a budding illustrator, we provide the guidance and confidence-building environment needed to ensure everyone leaves proud of what they've created. ✨

Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, disposable gloves, and protective suits to keep everyone safe and clean. We use low-pressure spray cans which are easier to control, and our workshops are always held in well-ventilated outdoor areas or specially equipped indoor spaces. A full safety briefing is conducted at the start of every session to ensure proper technique. 🛡️

Where in Galway do the workshops take place?

We are incredibly flexible! We can bring the workshop to your youth centre, sports club, or community space anywhere in Galway if you have a suitable outdoor wall or area. If you don't have a venue, don't worry—we have access to various 'legal walls' and creative spaces around the city where we can host your group safely and legally. 📍

How long does a typical youth workshop last?

A standard youth project workshop typically lasts between 2 and 3 hours. This allows enough time for the intro, safety talk, practice session, and the completion of a final collaborative mural or individual canvases. We can also adapt the timing to fit into your specific programme schedule if you're looking for a shorter 'taster' or a full-day intensive. ⏳

What are the costs for a youth project in Galway?

Our pricing is based on the number of participants and the specific setup (like whether we are painting a permanent wall or individual boards). Generally, prices range from €30 to €60 per person. We believe in transparency and accessibility for community groups, so we don't require any upfront payment—you simply pay after the workshop is complete. Request a custom quote for your specific group size! 💶

What should participants wear and bring?

We recommend wearing 'old clothes' and comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on. While we provide full-body protective suits and gloves, spray paint can be unpredictable in the wind! Everything else—the paint, the caps, the masks, and the surfaces—is fully provided by Graffitifun. Just bring your energy and creativity! 👟

Do you offer workshops in other Irish cities?

Yes! We cover the whole of Ireland. Besides our popular sessions in Galway, we regularly host workshops in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, and Waterford. No matter where your youth organisation is based, our team of artists can travel to you to bring the world of street art to your local community. 🇮🇪

Step by step

Initial consultation: Reach out to us with your group size and goals for the youth project in Galway.
Creative concept: We help the group brainstorm a theme, whether it’s local Galway culture, social issues, or just pure abstract art.
Safety first: On the day, we start with a full briefing and gear up in protective suits, masks, and gloves.
The basics: Our artists teach 'can control'—learning how to make thin lines, thick fills, and smooth gradients.
Sketching it out: Participants practice their tags and 'pieces' on practice surfaces to get the feel of the spray.
The main event: The group works together on a large-scale mural or individual canvases, applying their new skills.
Finishing touches: We add outlines and highlights to make the artwork pop and look professional.
Group photo: We celebrate the hard work with a photo session in front of the finished masterpiece!

Local culture

Galway is a city that breathes art, from the buskers on Shop Street to the massive murals that appear during the Galway International Arts Festival. Our workshops tap into this unique "Galway vibe," encouraging young people to add their own flair to the city's rich creative tapestry. We often find inspiration in the local landscape—from the Spanish Arch to the wild Atlantic waves. 🌊

Fun fact: Did you know Galway was a UNESCO City of Film? We use that same cinematic storytelling energy in our street art, helping youth tell their own stories through bold colours and sharp outlines! 📽️
