Do we need any previous art experience to participate?

Absolutely! Most university students who join our Galway workshops have never touched a spray can before. Our professional artists start with the basics, from how to hold the can to mastering pressure control. We provide a supportive, high-energy environment where 'mistakes' are just part of the style. You'll be amazed at the professional-looking piece you can create in just a couple of hours with our guidance.

What materials are included in the university workshop?

We provide everything you need to get creative. This includes a wide range of premium spray paint colours, protective ponchos, high-quality gloves, and professional respiratory masks. We also provide the 'canvas'—whether that's a temporary wall, boards, or individual canvases. Just make sure to wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on, just in case!

How long does a typical workshop session last?

A standard university workshop in Galway typically lasts between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. This allows enough time for a safety briefing, a demonstration of techniques, individual practice, and the completion of a final group project or individual masterpiece. We can also adapt the timing to fit into your society's meeting schedule or a specific slot during Freshers' Week.

Where do the workshops take place in Galway?

We are very flexible! We can host workshops at various outdoor locations around Galway or come directly to your campus if space permits. We use temporary mobile walls or canvases that can be set up in courtyards or designated student areas. If the Irish weather decides not to cooperate, we have indoor solutions using low-odour water-based paints to keep the fun going safely.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for student events?

Safety is our top priority. We provide all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including masks and gloves. Our instructors are professional artists who are well-versed in site safety. For university events, we ensure the area is well-ventilated and that all paints are used responsibly. We also carry full public liability insurance to give uni administrators total peace of mind.

Can we work on a collective mural as a society project?

Yes! Graffiti is a brilliant way to encourage collaboration. We often design workshops where students work together on a massive mural that represents their society, department, or university values. It’s a fantastic icebreaker for first-years and a great way for existing members to bond over a shared creative goal. Plus, the final result looks incredible in photos!

How do we book a workshop for our Galway student society?

Booking is easy. Since university group sizes vary, we recommend hitting the 'Request a Quote' button or using our Cost Calculator. Tell us your estimated numbers and preferred dates. We don’t require an upfront payment—you can pay after the workshop is complete. We also have backup artists ready to go, so you never have to worry about a last-minute cancellation.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next Galway uni event? It’s more than just painting on walls—it’s about breaking out of the academic bubble and doing something totally unexpected. Here’s why it’s a total winner:

Unbeatable Stress Relief: Forget exams for a few hours. There is nothing more satisfying than the "psshhh" of a spray can and seeing instant results. 🧘‍♂️

Instant Content: Let’s be real—graffiti looks amazing on camera. Your society’s socials will be blowing up with the vibrant colours of your creations. 📸
Team Spirit: Work together on a legacy piece for your society or club house. It’s the ultimate collaborative bonding experience.
Professional Artists: We don't just send "instructors." You'll be learning from active street artists who know the real techniques and culture. 🎨
Flexible & Mobile: We can set up in various spots across Galway or come to a location that suits your student group perfectly.

Step by step

Arrival and gear up: Meet your pro artist at your chosen Galway location. We'll get everyone suited up in protective gear and hand out the gloves. ✨
The basics of "The Can": Learn the fundamental physics of spray paint, including nozzle types (caps) and how distance affects your line.
Safety and etiquette: A quick run-down on how to use the gear safely and the "dos and don'ts" of the street art world.
Sketching your ideas: Grab some markers and tag your initial designs onto the wall or canvas to map out your masterpiece.
Linework and filling: Start the real work! Our artists show you how to get crisp outlines and smooth fills without those pesky drips. 🎨
The 'Cutting' technique: Learn how to use different colours to sharpen your edges and make your graffiti pop off the background.
Character and effects: Add shadows, highlights, and "flairs" to give your artwork that professional, urban edge. 💪
Group mural collab: Bring it all together! Work with your fellow students to blend individual styles into one massive, cohesive Galway street art piece.
The Big Reveal: Sign your work, take some epic group photos for the society's Instagram, and admire what you've created! 🏆

Local culture

Galway is a city that thrives on its bohemian spirit. From the buskers on Shop Street to the hidden murals in the West End, creativity is baked into the limestone here. Our workshops tap into that local "Galway vibe," celebrating the artistic freedom that makes this city the cultural heart of Ireland. Whether we're setting up near the Spanish Arch or in a campus courtyard, the atmosphere is always electric.

Fun Fact: Did you know Galway was a UNESCO City of Film? We like to think our workshops are the perfect "behind-the-scenes" look at the visual storytelling that defines the city's modern street landscape! 🎤

In addition to Galway, we also bring our spray-can skills to student groups in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, and Waterford.
