Do I need to be an artist to join the workshop?

Absolutely! Our Kilkenny cultural workshops are designed specifically for beginners. Most of our participants have never held a spray can before. Our professional artists will guide you through everything from basic nozzle control to creating your first masterpiece. We provide a safe, supportive environment where the goal is to have fun and express yourself, regardless of your previous artistic experience. You'll be amazed at what you can create in just one session!

What materials are included in the experience?

We've got you covered! Graffitifun provides all the necessary equipment, including high-quality spray paint in a huge range of colours, protective coveralls, gloves, and high-quality masks. We also provide the 'canvas'—whether that's a professional graffiti wall or individual boards to take home. We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and old shoes that you don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on, just in case!

Is the graffiti workshop safe?

Safety is our number one priority. We use low-pressure spray cans which are easier to control and provide high-quality protective gear, including FFP2 or FFP3 masks to ensure you aren't breathing in fumes. Our instructors are seasoned professionals who provide a full safety briefing before any paint is sprayed. We also ensure our workshop locations in Kilkenny are well-ventilated and spacious to allow for a comfortable creative process.

How long does a typical session last?

A standard cultural workshop in Kilkenny typically lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This timeframe allows enough room for an introduction to street art history, a demonstration of techniques, plenty of practice time, and the final creation of your own mural or tag. We can also customise the duration to fit your specific event schedule if you're looking for something shorter or more intensive.

How much does a graffiti workshop in Kilkenny cost?

The cost generally ranges between €30 and €60 per person. The final price depends on several factors, including the size of your group, the specific location chosen in Kilkenny, and the type of materials used (e.g., individual canvases vs. a large shared mural). We offer tiered pricing for larger groups and community projects. To get an accurate price for your specific event, just request a custom quote!

What happens if it rains on the day?

While we love the sunshine, we know the Irish weather can be unpredictable! For our Kilkenny workshops, we often use covered outdoor spaces or specially ventilated indoor venues. If the weather turns truly 'grand' (rainy), we have backup plans and indoor alternatives ready to go so your creative flow isn't interrupted. We’ll coordinate with you to ensure the location is perfect regardless of the clouds.

What is your cancellation and payment policy?

We are very flexible with bookings. One of the best parts about Graffitifun is that we don't require upfront payments—you can pay after the workshop is completed. We also have a network of backup artists available, so in the rare event of a staff illness, we don't have to cancel your event. We just ask that you give us as much notice as possible if your plans change.

Local culture

Kilkenny might be known for its stunning castle and limestone lanes, but it has always been a city of makers—from the Kilkenny Design Workshops to the modern-day arts festivals. Our graffiti workshops add a fresh, edgy layer to this artistic legacy. We draw inspiration from the city's vibrant atmosphere, blending the old-world charm of the 'Marble City' with the raw energy of urban expression. It's the perfect way to see a different side of the local culture beyond the traditional tourist trails. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know Kilkenny is nicknamed 'The Marble City' because of the dark grey limestone found locally? While our art uses spray paint instead of stone, we love bringing that same sense of permanence and pride to the murals we create together! 🏰
