Do I need previous graffiti experience to join the training?

No prior experience with spray paint is required! Our Toulouse workshop is designed specifically for licensed teachers and art educators of all skill levels. We start with the absolute basics—how to hold the can, pressure control, and nozzle types—before moving into complex layering and mural design. By the end of the session, you'll feel confident enough to demonstrate these techniques to your own students in a classroom setting.

What safety equipment is provided and taught?

We take safety very seriously. All participants are provided with high-quality FFP3 respiratory masks, nitrile gloves, and protective overalls. We also teach you how to set up a safe outdoor or well-ventilated workspace for your students, including eco-friendly paint options and proper disposal of canisters. You will leave the workshop with a comprehensive safety checklist to use during your own school art projects.

Can I use this training for my professional development (CPD) hours?

Absolutely! This professional development course is specifically designed to meet curriculum standards for secondary and higher education. We provide a certificate of completion and a digital resource pack that includes lesson plans, historical context, and technical guides. These materials are perfect for justifying the training to your department head or including in your professional teaching portfolio. High-fives all round!

How long does the training session last?

Standard teacher training sessions in Toulouse typically run between 2 and 3 hours. This allows enough time for a deep dive into street art history, a demonstration of technical skills, and plenty of hands-on practice on our legal graffiti walls. If you have a larger faculty group, we can extend the session to include collaborative mural planning or specific curriculum integration brainstorming.

Is the training mostly theoretical or hands-on?

We believe in learning by doing. While we cover the essential theory and history of the movement, about 80% of the workshop is hands-on. You will be using professional-grade spray cans on large-scale surfaces. We find that teachers learn best when they can physically experience the medium, troubleshoot common beginner mistakes (like drips!), and see the immediate impact of different caps and techniques.

Will you help me find the right materials for my classroom?

We share all our secrets! We provide a list of recommended local and online suppliers where you can purchase high-quality, budget-friendly spray paint and safety gear in France. We also offer advice on which 'caps' are best for student use and how to manage a classroom kit on a budget. You won't just learn how to paint; you'll learn how to manage the logistics.

Where in Toulouse do the workshops take place?

While 'The Pink City' has many beautiful walls, we conduct our workshops at designated legal street art zones or private locations. This ensures a relaxed environment where we can focus on teaching without any legal worries. If your school has a specific wall they want to transform, we can also arrange for the training to happen on-site at your campus in Toulouse!

The experience

Why choose graffiti for your professional development in Toulouse? It’s about more than just paint—it's about connecting with your students on their level and introducing a medium that is inherently inclusive and exciting. Here’s why our training stands out: 🔥

Boost Student Engagement: Nothing gets a classroom buzzing like the prospect of a graffiti mural. 🎤
Master New Techniques: Learn the "Can Control" that will make you the coolest teacher in the art department.
Curriculum-Ready: We don't just teach you how to paint; we show you how to link it to art history and contemporary culture.
Professional Credibility: Train with active street artists who know the real-world application of the craft. 🏆
Stress-Free Setup: We provide all the gear and safety protocols so you don't have to worry about the logistics.
Team Building: It's a fantastic way for a school department to bond and create something massive together. 💪

Ready to bring the streets into your studio? This is the ultimate creative upgrade for any educator! 🎨

Step by step

Introduction to the medium: We start with a briefing on the history of street art and the specific chemistry of spray paint.
Safety protocol: You'll learn how to gear up correctly and set up a safe "spray zone" for your future students.
Mastering the 'Can': Practice nozzle control, distance, and hand speed to create clean lines and avoid the dreaded 'drip'.
Lettering and structure: Learn the anatomy of graffiti letters, from simple tags to complex 3D "throw-ups".
Colour theory and blending: Discover how to create stunning gradients and "fades" using professional spray techniques.
Stencil and detail work: Explore alternative street art methods like stencilling to help less confident students achieve great results.
Curriculum integration: A collaborative session on how to link graffiti techniques to your existing art syllabus and learning objectives.
The final mural: Apply everything you've learned by contributing to a large-scale collaborative piece on a legal wall.

Local culture

Toulouse is a city that breathes art, from the rosy hues of its terracotta bricks to the cutting-edge aerospace soul of the region. But look closer at the banks of the Garonne or the vibrant streets of the Arnaud Bernard district, and you'll find a world-class street art scene. Toulouse is home to legendary crews and the famous Festival Rose Béton, making it the perfect backdrop for your professional development. 🚀

Fun Fact: Toulouse is often called the "Pink City," but the local street art scene adds every other colour of the rainbow! The city is so art-friendly that many local school playgrounds are now being transformed into legal "Halls of Fame."

By training here, you aren't just learning a skill; you're joining a local lineage of creators who use the city's walls to tell stories. From the murals near the Matabiau station to the hidden gems in Saint-Cyprien, Toulouse is your classroom! ✨
