Do we learn about the legal aspects of graffiti?

While we focus on the artistic side, we do touch upon the legalities of street art. We teach our university participants about the difference between illegal vandalism and sanctioned mural art. Our workshops in Ventspils always take place at legal, pre-approved locations, ensuring you gain the skills without the legal risks. It’s a great way to understand the social impact and the responsibility that comes with public art.

What materials are included in the university workshop?

Everything you need is included in the price! We provide high-quality spray cans in a wide variety of colours, protective masks, gloves, and overalls to keep your clothes clean. We also provide the professional surfaces or canvases you'll be working on. You just need to bring your enthusiasm and perhaps some old shoes you don’t mind getting a tiny bit of dust on. Ready to spray?

Can beginners join even if they aren't 'artistic'?

Absolutely! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels. Whether you’re an architecture student with a sharp eye for design or a medicine student who has never picked up a spray can, our professional artists guide you through every step. We start with the basics of can control and safety before moving on to complex techniques, ensuring everyone creates something they’re proud of by the end.

How long does a typical session last?

We are very flexible! A standard university session usually lasts between 2 and 2.5 hours, which is the perfect 'sweet spot' for learning and execution. However, for larger student unions or society events, we can offer shortened 1.5-hour 'taster' sessions or extended half-day intensive masterclasses. Let us know your schedule, and we will tailor the timing to fit your campus timetable perfectly.

Is there an indoor option if it rains?

Yes, we do! If the Latvian weather isn't cooperating in Ventspils, we can set up mobile graffiti walls in well-ventilated indoor spaces like sports halls, warehouses, or large common rooms. We use low-odour paints and ensure floor protection is in place. This makes our graffiti workshops a reliable choice for university events year-round, regardless of the seaside winds or rain.

What safety measures are in place during the workshop?

Safety is our top priority. We provide professional-grade FFP2 or FFP3 masks to ensure no one breathes in paint fumes, along with nitrile gloves. Our artists give a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone touches a can. We also ensure the workspace is well-ventilated. Students are supervised at all times to ensure they are using the equipment correctly and staying safe while having fun.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next university event? It’s more than just painting; it’s about building a community and trying something totally outside your comfort zone. Here’s why students in Ventspils love our sessions:

Total Stress Relief: There is nothing more therapeutic than the 'hiss' of a spray can to forget about upcoming exams. 💆‍♂️
Instant Social Media Gold: Create stunning content for your Instagram or TikTok while you work on your mural. 📸
Collaborative Spirit: Nothing brings a student society together like planning and executing a large-scale piece of art. ✨
No Talent Required: You don't need to be an art student; our pros ensure everyone leaves with a piece they’re proud of. 🏆
Authentic Experience: Use the same high-end paint and nozzles used by the world's top street artists. 💪
Zero Hassle: We bring everything to you and handle the cleanup. You just bring the vibes! 🎤

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: We start with a high-energy intro, meeting your pro artist and getting kitted out in protective gear while learning the 'dos and don'ts'.
The Art of the Tag: Learn the history of graffiti culture before grabbing a can to practice your first 'tag'—your unique artist signature.
Can Control 101: Master the technical side. We'll show you how to control pressure, create thin lines, and fill large areas without drips.
Sketching Your Concept: Work in groups or individually to sketch out a design that represents your student society, faculty, or personal style.
Outlining & Filling: This is where the magic happens! Transfer your sketch to the wall or canvas, layering colours and creating bold shapes.
Shadows & 3D Effects: Our artists teach you the 'pro' tricks, like adding drop shadows and highlights to make your letters pop off the surface.
Final Details & 'Cutting': Learn how to clean up your lines and add those final sharp details that separate the pros from the amateurs.
The Big Reveal & Photos: Step back and admire the collective masterpiece. We’ll take plenty of photos for your social media and student union archives!

Local culture

Ventspils is famously known for its "Cow Parade" sculptures and its clean, modern aesthetic, but beneath the polished surface lies a growing appreciation for urban expression. While the city's architecture is a blend of historic charm and futuristic tech (thanks to the Digital Centre and the High Tech Park), our workshops provide a raw, hands-on contrast to the digital world. We celebrate the seaside vibes of the Baltic while bringing a bit of metropolitan grit to the local scene. 🌊

Fun Fact: Did you know Ventspils has some of the most unique public art in Latvia? From giant travel suitcases to diverse cow sculptures, the city is a playground for visual thinkers—making it the perfect backdrop for your first graffiti masterpiece!

Whether we're setting up near the Olympic Centre or within reach of the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, we bring an authentic street art atmosphere that resonates with the city's spirit of progress and creativity. 🔥
