Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers and kids?

Absolutely! At Graffitifun, safety is our number one priority. We provide all participants with high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and ponchos. Our professional instructors are experts at managing groups of young people and ensure that spray cans are used responsibly. We only work in well-ventilated outdoor areas or legal street art zones in Denver to ensure a healthy and secure environment for everyone involved.

What is the minimum age to participate?

For our Denver youth projects, we typically recommend a minimum age of 8 to 10 years old. This is mainly because the spray cans require a certain amount of hand strength and coordination to operate effectively. However, we are great at adapting our teaching style for different age groups, from young children to older teens, ensuring that every participant feels successful and creates something they are proud of!

Do we need any previous art experience?

You don't need any prior art skills or drawing experience to have a blast with us! Our workshops are designed to take beginners from 'zero to hero.' We start with the basics of 'can control' and simple lettering. Our artists guide the youth through every step, helping them transform their initial sketches into high-impact street art. It's all about discovery, practice, and having fun with the process.

What materials are included in the workshop?

We’ve got you totally covered! Graffitifun provides everything needed for a complete street art experience in Denver. This includes a wide variety of professional spray paint colors, protective masks, gloves, and painting surfaces (like large wooden panels or individual canvases). We also bring sketches and caps. The only thing the participants need to bring is their enthusiasm and some clothes they don't mind getting a little paint on!

How long does a typical youth project workshop last?

Typically, our youth workshops in Denver last between 1.5 to 3 hours. This timeframe is the 'sweet spot' for keeping energy levels high and engagement focused. We spend the first part on history and technique, and the majority of the time on actual painting. If you have a specific schedule or a full-day youth event planned, we can certainly customize the duration to fit your program's needs perfectly.

Where in Denver do the workshops take place?

We are incredibly flexible! We can host the workshop at one of Denver's legal graffiti spots or come directly to your location, whether that's a community center, school parking lot, or a private backyard. We just need an outdoor space with enough room for the group to move around safely. If you aren't sure where to host it, just ask us—we know all the best creative corners in the Mile High City!

How much does a youth graffiti project cost?

The final price depends on the number of participants, the duration of the session, and the specific materials required for your project. We offer competitive rates ranging from $35 to $75 per person. To give you the most accurate pricing for your specific group size and vision, we recommend requesting a custom quote. This ensures you get exactly what you need within your budget without any hidden surprises.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next Denver youth event? It’s more than just painting; it's about building confidence and community! Here is why our workshops rock:

Pure Creative Freedom: Unlike traditional art, graffiti encourages big movements and bold choices—perfect for energetic teens! 🎤
Confidence Booster: Watching a blank wall transform into a masterpiece in just two hours gives participants an incredible sense of achievement.
Safe & Professional: We take the "rebel" out of the risk while keeping the "cool" in the craft. Our pros teach respect for public spaces. ✨
Teamwork in Action: Many of our projects involve collaborative murals where everyone has to work together to create a unified piece.
No Experience Required: Our step-by-step method ensures that even those who think they "can't draw" walk away with something amazing. 🎉
Total Reliability: With backup artists and no upfront payments, your Denver event is in the safest hands in the business.

Step by step

Intro & Street Art History: We kick things off with a brief, high-energy talk about the roots of graffiti and how it evolved into the global street art movement we see in Denver today.
Safety & Gear Up: Safety first! Everyone gets fitted with gloves, masks, and protective gear to ensure we stay clean and breathe easy while we work.
The Masterclass: Our pro artists demonstrate fundamental techniques, from making thin lines and fat flares to the secret of perfect "can control."
Sketching the Vision: Participants grab markers and paper to brainstorm their designs, tags, or a collective mural theme for the group.
First Sprays: It's time to shake the cans! We start with practice strokes on a practice wall to get a feel for the pressure and distance.
Layering & Filling: We move on to filling in the big blocks of color, learning how to blend shades and create those classic graffiti gradients.
Outlining & Detailing: This is where the magic happens. We add the sharp outlines and "highlights" that make the artwork pop off the wall.
The Big Reveal: We step back to admire the finished masterpiece, snap some photos, and discuss the creative journey.
Clean Up & Wrap: We pack up the gear and leave the space tidy, leaving only the awesome memories and colorful art behind!

Good to know

Duration: Sessions typically run 1.5 to 3 hours, but we can customize for full-day events.

What's Included: All professional spray paint (high-quality, low-pressure cans), masks, gloves, canvases or panels, and expert instruction.
Safety: We use high-grade respirators and provide full protective gear. Our workshops are always held in well-ventilated or outdoor spaces.
Weather: If the Denver weather doesn't cooperate, we have backup indoor solutions or can easily reschedule at no extra cost. 🏆

Local culture

Denver isn't just known for the mountains; it's a world-class hub for urban expression! From the iconic River North Art District (RiNo) to the mural-lined streets of Santa Fe Drive, the Mile High City breathes creativity. Our Denver youth projects tap into this local energy, showing participants how street art can transform a neighborhood and give a voice to the community. We often draw inspiration from the city's massive "Crush Walls" festival and the diverse styles found across the 303.

Fun Fact: Did you know Denver is home to one of the largest concentrations of legal street art in the US? The RiNo district alone has over 100 murals, making it the perfect "outdoor museum" for young artists to find inspiration before they shake their first can! 🏔️ 🔥
