Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls for every participant. Our Manchester artists are professionally trained to manage groups of young people, ensuring that everyone follows safety protocols while using the spray cans. We use low-pressure cans which are much easier for beginners to control and much safer for use in a workshop environment.

How long does a typical session last?

Our youth project workshops typically last between 2 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time to cover the history of street art, practice basic techniques on our 'practice wall,' and then collaborate on a final large-scale piece. If you have a specific schedule to stick to, just let us know! We can adapt our timing to fit perfectly into your Manchester youth club or community centre schedule.

Where in Manchester do the workshops take place?

Graffitifun is fully mobile! We can come to your location in Manchester if you have a suitable outdoor space or a well-ventilated indoor area with permission. Alternatively, we also have access to amazing legal graffiti spots and creative hubs across the city. During the booking process, we’ll help you figure out the best location based on your group size and the type of project you want to create.

Do the participants need any prior art experience?

None at all! Most of the young people we work with have never touched a spray can before. Our artists are experts at breaking down complex art into simple, manageable steps. We start with the basics of 'can control' and 'lining' before moving on to the more creative stuff. You’ll be amazed at the professional-looking mural the group can produce by the end of the day!

What materials are included in the price?

We provide everything! Your booking includes all the premium spray paint, various 'caps' for different line widths, protective gear (masks, suits, gloves), and the canvases or boards we'll be painting on. The only thing we suggest is that participants wear old clothes and shoes—just in case a little bit of Manchester spirit (or paint) gets where it shouldn't! We handles all the setup and the cleanup.

How does the payment process work?

We believe in making things easy for youth organisers. There is no upfront payment required to secure your date. You only pay after the workshop has been successfully completed and everyone is happy with the results. We accept various payment methods and can provide all necessary invoicing for council or charity-funded projects. This ensures total peace of-mind for your organisation.

What happens if it rains on the day?

If the weather turns typical for Manchester, don't worry! We always have backup plans. If we are painting outside and it rains, we can often move the session under cover or reschedule to another day. For many youth projects, we recommend having a ventilated indoor space as a backup. Our artists are flexible and will work with you to ensure the workshop goes ahead safely.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your youth group? It’s about way more than just paint on a wall. It’s a chance to step outside the comfort zone and try something totally unique. 🔥

Boosts confidence: Seeing a massive piece of art completed from scratch gives young people a huge sense of achievement.
Teaches collaboration: Murals require planning and teamwork—everyone has to work together to make the design flow.
Safe environment: We take the "edge" of graffiti and bring it into a safe, legal, and professional setting.
Expert mentors: Our artists aren't just talented; they’re passionate about mentoring and inspiring young people. 🎤
No-risk booking: With our backup artist policy and no upfront costs, your project is in safe hands.
Stress-free: We bring all the gear, handle the mess, and ensure everyone has a blast. 🏆

Step by step

The intro: We start with a brief history of graffiti and street art, explaining its roots in Manchester's own urban culture.
Safety first: Everyone gets geared up with masks, gloves, and overalls. Safety is boring but essential!
Can control: Our artists demonstrate how to hold the can, control pressure, and swap 'caps' for different effects.
Sketching: Participants grab spray cans to practice lines, circles, and basic shapes on a practice surface.
The design: The group works together to sketch out a large-scale design based on the project's theme.
Filling in: This is where the colour comes in! Everyone helps fill the design with vibrant shades and gradients.
Outlining: We show you how to 'pop' the artwork using sharp outlines and highlights for that professional finish.
The reveal: Step back and admire the massive mural created by the team. This is usually the best moment for photos!
Clean up: We pack up all the materials and leave the site tidy, leaving only the incredible artwork behind.

Local culture

Manchester has always been a city of rebels and creatives, from the Northern Quarter's world-famous murals to the hidden gems in Stockport. Street art is woven into the fabric of the city, and our workshops celebrate that local heritage. We don't just teach painting; we connect young people to the visual language of their own streets. 🐝

Fun Fact: Did you know that Manchester is home to some of the UK’s most iconic street art festivals? The city's 'bee' symbol is also a massive part of local graffiti culture, representing the hard-working nature of Mancunians!

Whether we're inspired by the industrial history of the canals or the modern buzz of MediaCity, our workshops encourage youth groups to draw inspiration from the city they call home.

Pricing

We believe in keeping things transparent. Our prices for youth projects in Manchester typically range from £25 to £55 per person. The final cost depends on how many participants you have, the length of the session, and the amount of paint requested!

The best part? No upfront payment is required. We want you to be 100% happy with the experience first. We also offer a Price Match Guarantee—if you find a similar professional workshop for less, we'll match it!
