Do the students need to be 'artistic' to join in?

Absolutely! No prior artistic skills are needed for our Funchal workshops. Our professional artists are there to guide students through every single step, from the very first line to the final flourish. We focus on building confidence and having a blast, so whether they can draw or just want to try something new, they'll leave with a masterpiece they're proud of. It's all about the experience!

Is the graffiti workshop safe for children?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and overalls to keep clothes clean. Our spray paints are selected for safety, and we always work in well-ventilated areas or outdoors. Our experienced instructors supervise every moment of the session to ensure all equipment is used correctly and responsibly, giving parents and organisers total peace of mind.

How long does a typical after-school session last?

Our standard after-school sessions usually last between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. This gives the group plenty of time to learn the techniques, practice their spray control, and complete a final individual or group piece. We can also adapt the timing to fit into your specific school schedule or extracurricular block—just let us know what works best for your Funchal location!

What materials do we need to provide?

We bring the street art studio to you! We provide all the professional spray cans in a huge range of colours, caps (nozzles), protective clothing, and the surfaces to paint on (like large canvases or boards). You don't need to worry about a thing—just make sure the kids are wearing comfortable shoes and are ready to get creative!

What is the price for an after-school workshop in Funchal?

The cost is flexible and depends on the number of participants and the specific setup you’re looking for. In Funchal, prices generally range from €20 to €45 per person. Because every group is different, we recommend using our online cost calculator or requesting a custom quote so we can give you the best possible price for your specific student group.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day?

Funchal's weather is usually amazing, but if it does rain, we have backup plans! We can often work under cover or move the session to a well-ventilated indoor space using water-based paints if necessary. Plus, we have backup artists available to ensure your booking never gets cancelled last minute due to staff illness. We’re committed to making sure the fun happens!

Do we need to book far in advance?

Yes, we do! Our sessions are very popular, so we recommend booking at least 3-4 weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. However, we always try to accommodate last-minute requests whenever possible. You don't have to pay anything upfront either—we believe in our service so much that you only pay after the workshop is successfully completed!

The experience

Why choose a Graffitifun workshop for your after-school programme in Funchal? It's more than just painting on walls—it's about building skills and having a blast! ✨

Boosts Confidence: Seeing a giant mural come to life from their own hands gives students a massive sense of achievement. 💪
Professional Mentors: Our artists aren't just great painters; they are fantastic educators who know how to inspire and engage.
Zero Stress for Schools: We handle everything—setup, materials, tuition, and the big clean-up. You just provide the space!
Inclusivity First: Graffiti is a great equaliser; you don't need to be "good at art" to create something that looks professional and cool. 🎤
Unique Portfolio Pieces: Students get to take home their own canvases, perfect for school art portfolios or bedroom walls.
Teamwork & Collaboration: Our group mural projects teach students how to work together to achieve a massive, colourful goal. 🤝

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: We start with a high-energy intro to graffiti culture and a vital safety briefing on how to use the equipment properly. ✨
The Tag Creator: Students get to experiment with their 'tag' name on paper or using our digital tools to find their unique style.
Can Control 101: Our pro artists demonstrate how to hold the can, swap nozzles, and create different line widths and effects. 🔥
Practice Makes Perfect: Everyone gets a chance to spray on practice boards to get a feel for the pressure and movement of the paint.
Sketching the Mural: Whether it's a solo canvas or a giant group mural, we outline the main designs ready for the colour.
Filling & Fading: This is the fun part! Students learn how to blend colours and create those iconic graffiti gradients. 🎨
Outlining & Highlights: We add the sharp "power lines" and white highlights that make the artwork pop off the surface.
The Big Reveal: We step back to admire the collective work, take group photos, and celebrate the incredible creativity unleashed! 📸
Clean Up: We ensure the area is left tidy, and students can take their personal masterpieces home with them.

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Funchal is famously known for its "Painted Doors" project in the Zona Velha (Old Town), where ordinary entrances have been transformed into spectacular works of art. Our workshops tap into this local spirit of urban renewal and creative expression. We don't just teach kids how to spray; we connect them to the artistic pulse of Madeira. 🌊

Fun Fact: Did you know that Funchal's street art scene helped revitalise the Santa Maria street area, turning it into one of the city's most visited spots? Your students could be the next generation of artists keeping Funchal colourful! 🏆

From the heights of Monte to the bustling Lido, we bring the vibe of Madeira street art to every corner of the city. We love seeing how the local island light inspires the bright neon and pastel palettes the kids choose for their work!
