Do we need any previous art experience to participate?

Absolutely! No prior artistic experience is needed to enjoy our Funchal workshops. Our professional artists are expert instructors who specialise in teaching 'non-artists' how to master the spray can. We start with the basics of safety and nozzle control, ensuring everyone feels comfortable before moving on to more complex techniques. By the end of the school holiday session, you will be amazed at the masterpiece you've created from scratch.

Is the workshop safe for children and teenagers?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality FFP2 or FFP3 respiratory masks, protective gloves, and disposable overalls to keep your clothes clean and your lungs safe. Our spray paints are selected for their quality and we always conduct workshops in well-ventilated outdoor areas or large open spaces. Our instructors are trained to supervise groups closely, ensuring a fun and secure environment for all participants during the holidays.

What happens if it rains during our scheduled session?

Ideally, we recommend outdoor locations to get the true street art experience, but we know the weather in Madeira can be unpredictable. We have access to several sheltered or indoor locations in Funchal where we can safely use spray paint with proper ventilation. If the weather looks particularly rough, we can also pivot to using paint markers and indoor-safe techniques so the school holiday fun never has to be cancelled.

How long does a typical graffiti workshop last?

A standard school holiday workshop in Funchal lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a proper introduction, technique practice, and the creation of a final large-scale piece. If you have a specific schedule to stick to, we can easily tailor the duration to fit your group's needs. We find this timeframe is the 'sweet spot' for keeping energy levels high and creativity flowing.

Can you accommodate large groups or school holiday camps?

Our school holiday workshops are incredibly flexible. We can host small groups or large youth organisations with dozens of participants. For larger groups, we bring in additional backup artists from our professional team to ensure everyone gets personal attention and guidance. Whether you are a small family group or a large holiday camp, we scale our materials and staff to match your specific group size perfectly.

What is included in the workshop price?

We provide everything you need to become a street artist for the day! This includes a wide variety of premium spray cans in every colour of the rainbow, nozzles (caps) for different effects, protective gear (masks, gloves, suits), and the surfaces to paint on—usually large wooden panels or canvases. You just need to show up in comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a little dusty. We handle the rest!

How do I book a session and when do I pay?

Booking is simple! Because prices vary based on your group size (ranging from €20 to €45 per person), we recommend using our online Cost Calculator or requesting a custom quote. Once you have your quote, we can lock in your preferred date and time. The best part? There is no upfront payment required. You can pay after the workshop is completed, ensuring you are 100% satisfied with your Funchal street art experience.

Local culture

Funchal isn't just about beautiful gardens and wine; it’s a city that breathes art! From the famous painted doors of Rua de Santa Maria in the Old Town to the vibrant murals tucked away in the side streets, Funchal has a rich tradition of public expression. Our workshops tap into this local spirit, giving you a chance to contribute to the creative energy of the island. 🏺

Fun Fact: Did you know that the "Art of Open Doors" project in Funchal turned a once-run-down area into a world-class outdoor gallery with over 200 painted doors? We draw inspiration from this local initiative in every workshop! 🏛️

While we might not be painting on the historic doors ourselves, we bring that same Madeiran flair to every session, ensuring your school holiday experience feels authentically connected to the local culture.
