How long does a typical graffiti birthday party last?

Most kids' graffiti parties in Edinburgh last between 1.5 to 2 hours. This provides the perfect balance of learning time, creative expression, and finalising those masterpieces without any little artists getting tired. If you have a larger group or want a more intensive session, we can easily extend the duration to suit your schedule. Plus, it leaves just enough time for cake and snacks afterwards!

Is it safe for children to use spray paint?

Safety is our absolute number one priority. We provide all participants with high-quality protective suits, gloves, and specialised masks to filter out fumes. Our spray paints are selected for being as safe as possible for children's use, and our professional artists provide a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone even touches a can. We ensure a controlled, supervised environment so the only thing parents have to worry about is taking photos!

What is the minimum age for a graffiti party?

We generally recommend our graffiti workshops for children aged 6 and up. At this age, kids have the motor skills needed to press the spray nozzles and follow the artistic instructions. We tailor our teaching style to the specific age group, ensuring the younger ones get more hands-on help while teenagers are given more creative freedom to experiment with complex styles and techniques.

Do the kids need to have previous artistic experience?

Not at all! One of the best things about graffiti art is that it's approachable for everyone. Our expert artists in Edinburgh are masters at breaking down complex letters into simple shapes. We guide the children through every step, from the first sketch to the final highlight. Even kids who don't think they are 'good at art' always walk away with a piece they are incredibly proud of.

What happens if it rains on the day of the party?

We are fully prepared for the classic Edinburgh weather! While we love working outside, we have several indoor locations or sheltered spots available to ensure the party goes ahead rain or shine. In the event of heavy rain, we simply move the creative fun under cover. We also have backup artists on standby, so you never have to worry about a last-minute cancellation ruining the big day.

What should the children wear to the workshop?

We recommend that the birthday stars wear old clothes and comfortable trainers. While we provide full-body protective suits and gloves, graffiti can occasionally be a bit messy, and paint might find its way onto shoes or sleeves. Think of it as 'creative attire'—items you don't mind getting a little speckle of colour on! We’ll handle the rest of the gear to keep everyone as clean as possible.

How do I book and do I need to pay upfront?

Booking is super easy! Once you’ve decided on a date, just reach out via our website or use our cost calculator for an instant estimate. We don't require any upfront payment—you simply pay after the workshop is completed. This gives you total peace of mind. We recommend booking at least 3-4 weeks in advance, especially for weekend slots in Edinburgh, to ensure your preferred artist is available.

Step by step

The warm welcome: Our pro graffiti artist meets the group at your chosen Edinburgh spot, handing out all the gear.
Safety first: Everyone gets fitted with protective suits, gloves, and masks while we go over the 'golden rules' of spray painting.
Learning the basics: We start with a demo on how to hold the can, control pressure, and create different line widths.
Sketching the vision: The kids get to brainstorm their designs on paper or directly on the practice wall, choosing their favourite colours.
The first layer: Time to shake those cans! The children begin filling in their outlines with vibrant background colours.
Adding the 'Pop': Our artists show them how to add shadows, 3D effects, and distinctive outlines to make their names stand out.
The finishing touches: We add highlights, stars, and 'splatter' effects for that authentic street art look.
Group masterpiece: If chosen, the group works together on one final 'Birthday Mural' for the guest of honour.
Photo finish: We wrap up with a group photo session in front of the artwork—the perfect memory of an epic Edinburgh birthday!

Local culture

Edinburgh might be famous for its medieval 'Old Town' and stunning castle, but its urban art scene is just as vibrant. From the hidden gems in the Leith Shore area to the ever-changing murals near the Cowgate, the city is a canvas for local talent. Our workshops tap into this local spirit, showing kids that art isn't just something you see in the National Gallery—it's alive on the streets!

🎨 Fun Fact: Edinburgh is home to several 'legal walls' where artists can hone their craft without breaking the law. One of the most famous spots is the New Street legal wall, which has seen some of the UK's top street artists leave their mark!

Our Edinburgh team lives and breathes this culture. We don't just teach kids how to spray; we give them a taste of the history and respect that defines the city's unique creative community. ✨
