Is the graffiti workshop safe for children?

Absolutely! Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls for every participant. Our professional artists are trained to supervise groups and ensure everyone uses the spray cans correctly. We also use low-odour professional paints wherever possible, making it a safe and exciting environment for children and teens to explore their creativity during the holidays.

Do the kids need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels, from total beginners to budding artists. Our expert graffiti mentors will guide the group through the basic techniques, from holding the can to creating clean lines and shadows. By the end of the session, even those who thought they couldn't draw a stick figure will be amazed at the masterpiece they've helped create.

What should participants wear to the workshop?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting a little bit of 'character' on. While we provide full protective suits and gloves, spray paint can be a bit unpredictable, and it's best to be safe. It’s all part of the authentic street art experience—getting your hands a little dirty while making something beautiful!

How long does the workshop last?

A standard school holiday session in Rivera typically lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. This provides the perfect balance of time to learn the history of the craft, practice basic techniques on plastic foil or practice walls, and then collaborate on a final, large-scale piece. We find this timeframe keeps the energy high and the focus sharp for younger participants.

How far in advance should we book?

Our school holiday programmes are incredibly popular, especially in Rivera’s vibrant creative community. To ensure we have your preferred date and enough instructors available, we recommend booking at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance. However, thanks to our back-up artist policy, we can often accommodate last-minute requests, so it’s always worth asking us!

Do I need to pay for the workshop upfront?

We believe in a hassle-free experience. You don't need to pay anything upfront when you book your workshop. We trust our clients and want you to feel confident in our service. Payment is settled after the workshop is completed, ensuring you are 100% satisfied with the colourful fun we've delivered to your group!

Where in Rivera do the workshops take place?

We are flexible! We can host workshops at various outdoor locations in Rivera, or we can come to your school, community centre, or youth club. If you don't have a specific location in mind, we can help find a 'legal wall' or a suitable space where the kids can paint freely and safely without any legal worries.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next school holiday activity in Rivera? It’s more than just painting walls—it’s about discovering a new way to communicate and create. Here is why our workshops are the talk of the town:

Unleash Raw Creativity: We move art away from the desk and onto a massive scale, letting kids think big and bold! 🚀
Professional Mentorship: Learn from the best. Our artists aren't just teachers; they are active members of the street art scene. 💪
Zero Risk, All Fun: With our "pay after the workshop" policy and guaranteed backup artists, your event is in safe hands.
Team Building: Many of our activities involve collaborative murals, teaching kids how to work together to achieve a "wow" result. 🤝
Boost Confidence: There is nothing like seeing your own 2-metre tall masterpiece to make a young person feel like a pro. 🏆
Explore Other Locations: We also host workshops in Montevideo, Salto, Mercedes, and Artigas!

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: We start with a high-energy kick-off, introducing our professional artists and getting everyone geared up in protective suits and masks.
Graffiti History: A quick, engaging chat about how street art evolved from simple tags to the massive murals seen around Uruguay.
Sketching Session: Participants grab paper and pens to brainstorm their designs, learning about 'lettering' and 'character' styles.
Can Control: The real fun begins! Each student learns how to hold the spray can, control the pressure, and create different line widths.
Technique Practice: We head to the practice wall to master fading, outlines, and basic 'filling' techniques under expert guidance.
The Masterpiece: The group works together on a large-scale project, applying their new skills to create a vibrant, collaborative piece of art.
Fine Tuning: Our artists help the kids add those professional final touches—highlights and sharp outlines that make the work pop.
Photos & Wrap-up: We celebrate the creation with a group photo session (the perfect souvenir!) and a final debrief on what they've learned.

Local culture

Rivera is a city with a unique pulse, sitting right on the border where cultures and languages blend beautifully. This "Border of Peace" provides the perfect backdrop for a graffiti workshop, where the spirit of collaboration is already part of the local DNA. From the bustling streets near Plaza Internacional to the artistic corners of the city, Rivera’s urban landscape is ripe for a splash of new colour. We love bringing our workshops here because the local youth have an incredible energy and a distinct way of expressing their mixed heritage through art. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know that Rivera and its Brazilian neighbour, Santana do Livramento, share a street as their international border? This makes Rivera one of the most culturally fluid cities in Uruguay, which is exactly why the "freestyle" nature of graffiti resonates so well here! ✨
