How long does a typical university graffiti workshop last?

Most university workshops in Kolding last between 2 and 3 hours. This allows enough time for a thorough introduction to techniques, individual practice, and the completion of a final collective mural. If you have a tighter schedule for a specific student union event, we can adapt the timing to fit a 90-minute 'express' session while still ensuring everyone gets to spray.

Is it safe for students to use the spray cans?

Absolutely! We take safety seriously. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, protective overalls, and gloves for every student. We also conduct a safety briefing before any cans are shaken. Our professional artists supervise the entire process to ensure the paint stays on the wall (or canvas) and everyone has a fun, injury-free experience in the fresh Danish air.

Do we need any prior art experience to participate?

No experience is needed at all! Our workshops are designed for complete beginners. Whether you are an art student at Design School Kolding or someone who hasn't picked up a brush since primary school, our artists will guide you step-by-step. You'll be amazed at the professional-looking results you can achieve with just a few expert tips on nozzle control and layering.

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

Kolding's weather can be unpredictable, but we've got you covered. If we are planning an outdoor session and the Danish rain arrives, we can often move the workshop to a sheltered outdoor area or use an indoor space with canvases and low-odour water-based sprays. We also have backup artists available, so your event will never be cancelled due to staff illness.

What is included in the price?

Every workshop includes all necessary materials: premium spray cans in a wide range of vibrant colours, various nozzle types for different spray widths, protective gear, and the painting surface (either a legal wall or large canvases). We even bring the inspiration! You just need to show up in comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a tiny bit of dust on.

How many students can participate in a single session?

We are very flexible! We can host workshops for small student committees of 10 people or large-scale university festivals with over 100 participants. For very large groups, we bring in additional professional artists from our network to ensure everyone gets personal guidance and enough 'can-time'. Just let us know your estimated numbers and we will scale the setup accordingly.

Can we choose the theme or the style of the graffiti?

Students in Kolding love our 'vandalism-free' approach! We focus on legal street art, but we definitely include the 'cool' elements. You'll learn about tagging (the right way), creating 3D effects, 'fading' colours together, and outlining. We can even tailor the session to include a competition or a collaborative project where the group creates a piece reflecting your university's values or local Kolding pride.

Step by step

Introduction & safety: We start with a quick intro to the history of street art and a vital safety briefing on how to use the equipment properly.
The first spray: Everyone grabs a can to get a feel for the pressure, learning how distance and speed change the line on the wall.
Mastering techniques: Our pros teach you 'can-control'—from sharp outlines to smooth colour gradients and those iconic urban drips.
Sketching the vision: Students work together or individually to sketch out their design ideas on paper before hitting the big surface.
Filling in the blanks: This is where the colour happens! You'll learn how to layer shades to create depth and pop.
The finishing touches: Add highlights, clean up the edges, and see your piece truly come to life under the guidance of our artists.
Group photo & reveal: We wrap up by admiring the collective masterpiece and taking some epic photos for your social media or university magazine.

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Kolding is a city where tradition meets cutting-edge design, largely thanks to the influence of the world-renowned Design School Kolding. This creative energy spills out into the streets, making it the perfect backdrop for a graffiti workshop. While the historic Koldinghus stands tall, the modern student vibe is all about innovation and visual expression. We love bringing our workshops to this pocket of Denmark because the students here really 'get' the intersection of art and identity. ✨

Fun fact: Did you know Kolding has several legal street art zones? We often use these spaces or bring mobile walls directly to your campus, ensuring your creative session stays completely legal and stress-free! 🎨
