Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers?

Safety is our top priority for youth projects in Kolding. We provide high-quality respirators (FFP3 masks), disposable gloves, and protective suits for every participant. Our workshops take place in well-ventilated outdoor areas or dedicated legal graffiti walls. Furthermore, our professional instructors are experienced in managing groups of young people, ensuring everyone follows safety protocols while having a blast with their spray cans. We use professional-grade paint that is safe when handled correctly.

What is the minimum age for participation?

We generally recommend our youth workshops for ages 10 and up. At this age, participants have the physical strength to control the spray cans and the focus to follow safety instructions. However, we can adapt the session for slightly younger groups using water-based paints or larger-scale collaborative murals. If you are planning a project for a specific age group in Kolding, just let us know and we will tailor the complexity accordingly.

Do the participants need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. We start with the basics—how to hold the can, how to control pressure, and how to create simple shapes. Our expert artists guide the youth through every step of the process. By the end of the session, even those who claim they 'can't draw a stick figure' are usually amazed at the vibrant street art they have managed to create.

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

The beauty of Kolding's weather is that we are prepared! If the forecast looks particularly grim, we have two main options. We can either move the workshop to a covered outdoor location or an indoor space with adequate ventilation, or we can reschedule the event. Because we have a large team of backup artists, we are very flexible with timing. We will always communicate with you 24-48 hours before the event to finalise the plan.

Can we choose a specific theme for our youth project?

Our youth projects are highly customisable. We can focus on individual canvases that the kids get to take home, or we can work together on a large-scale collective mural on a legal wall or wooden boards. Many youth clubs in Kolding choose the mural option as it creates a lasting piece of community art. We can also incorporate specific themes, such as local history, sports, or social messages that are important to your group.

How long does a typical youth graffiti session last?

A standard youth project workshop typically lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This includes the initial safety briefing, the 'sketching' phase where we practice techniques, and the final execution of the masterpiece. For larger community projects or multi-day youth camps in Kolding, we can extend the programme over several sessions to allow for more detailed work and more in-depth artistic development. We move at the pace of the group to ensure maximum fun!

How do I book and when do I need to pay?

We make the booking process as stress-free as possible for youth leaders and organisers. You can request a quote through our website or give us a call. Once we've agreed on the date and group size, your booking is confirmed. The best part? There is no upfront payment required. You only pay after the workshop has been successfully completed and the kids are happy. We accept various payment methods to suit school or municipality billing requirements.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next youth project in Kolding? It's more than just painting walls—it's about building confidence and community. ✨

Boosts Self-Esteem: There’s nothing like the "wow" moment when a young person sees their finished piece for the first time. 🏆
Teamwork & Collaboration: Working on a large mural teaches coordination, communication, and shared pride.
Creative Outlet: Graffiti provides a unique, "cool" medium for self-expression that traditional art classes can't match. 🎨
Accessible Art: You don't need to be a "pro" to start; we make street art accessible to everyone, regardless of skill level.
Safe & Legal: We teach the difference between vandalism and street art, promoting respect for the local Kolding environment. 🛑
Professional Mentors: Our artists are passionate about sharing their craft and inspiring the next generation. 🔥

Step by step

Intro & inspiration: We start with a quick intro to graffiti history and show off some cool local Kolding street art styles to get the ideas flowing.
Safety first: Everyone gets suited up in protective gear. We explain how to use the equipment safely and respect the environment.
First lines: Participants grab a can and learn 'can control'—practising dots, lines, and fades on practice surfaces.
Sketching the vision: Using markers or light spray, the group outlines their main design, whether it's a collective mural or individual pieces.
Filling in the colour: This is where the magic happens! We bring the piece to life with vibrant colours, learning how to layer and blend.
The 'cut-back' & details: Our artists show you how to sharpen those edges and add fine details that make the artwork pop.
Final highlights: We add those professional touches like 'shines' and 'power lines' to give the graffiti that authentic street look.
Photo op & wrap-up: We celebrate the finished work with a group photo session—perfect for sharing the achievement with the community!

Local culture

Kolding is a city where tradition meets modern design, home to the iconic Koldinghus and the innovative Design School Kolding. This creative spirit makes it the perfect backdrop for a graffiti revolution! We love tapping into the local 'Vejle Fjord' vibes and the urban energy of the city centre to inspire our projects. While Kolding is famous for its historical architecture, the local street art scene is growing, and our workshops help the next generation of Jutland artists find their voice. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know Kolding is part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network? It’s officially a "City of Design," which means there's no better place in Denmark to pick up a spray can and start designing your own future! 🇩🇰
