What is the minimum group size for a Hamilton outdoor party?

For our outdoor parties in Hamilton, we require a minimum of 10 participants. However, we've hosted massive groups of over 100 people at once! Because we have a large team of professional artists and backup instructors, we can easily scale the experience to fit your guest list. Whether it's a small crew or a huge community bash, we ensure everyone gets enough spray time and personal guidance.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for beginners and kids?

We take safety seriously! We provide high-quality breathing masks, disposable gloves, and protective ponchos to keep your clothes clean. Our spray paints are professional-grade but used in well-ventilated outdoor settings. Our instructors provide a safety briefing before anyone touches a can, ensuring everyone knows how to handle the pressure and distance correctly. It’s all the thrill of 'tagging' with none of the risk!

What happens if it rains on the day of our outdoor event?

The weather in the Hammer can be unpredictable! If rain is in the forecast, we usually look for a covered outdoor spot or a large ventilated indoor space as a backup. Because we have multiple artists on staff, we are flexible with scheduling. We always check the forecast 24-48 hours ahead of time and coordinate with you to ensure the party goes off without a hitch.

Can you host the workshop at my own private location in Hamilton?

While we often use our own specialized mobile graffiti walls, we can certainly come to your location if you have a suitable outdoor space. This could be a large backyard, a driveway, or a private parking lot. We just need permission from the property owner and enough space for everyone to move around safely. If you don't have a spot, we can suggest great local Hamilton locations.

Do I need to have any artistic talent or prior experience?

Not at all! Most of our guests have never held a spray can before. Our professional artists break down the process into easy, manageable steps. We start with basic lines and shapes before moving on to 'fills' and 'outlines.' You’ll be shocked at how quickly you can create something that looks like it belongs on a gallery wall (or a James Street North alleyway)!

What should we wear and bring to the workshop?

Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little dusty, though we do provide protective gear. Flat, closed-toe shoes are a must for stability while painting. Other than that, just bring your energy and perhaps some inspiration! We handle all the 'messy' stuff like paint, caps, boards, and safety equipment, so you can just focus on having an absolute blast with your friends.

How long does a typical graffiti workshop last?

A standard outdoor party workshop usually lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for introductions, a demonstration, individual practice, and the creation of a final masterpiece. We find this is the 'sweet spot' where everyone stays engaged and excited without getting tired. If you have a specific timeline for your event, we can always customize the duration to fit your schedule perfectly.

Total Freedom: Nothing beats the feeling of spraying paint in the open air — no walls (literally) holding your creativity back! ☀️
Pro Guidance: Work with real street artists who live and breathe this culture; they’ll teach you the "secret sauce" of can control. 🎨
Zero Pressure: This isn't an art class; it's a party. We focus on loud music, big laughs, and bold colours. 🎉
Perfect for Everyone: From kids parties to bachelor parties, everyone loves the tactile thrill of street art. 💪
Instagram Gold: Your final group mural serves as the ultimate backdrop for photos that will make your followers jealous. 📸
Flexible & Mobile: We can set up in various outdoor locations across Hamilton, bringing the party to a spot that suits you. 🏆

Step by step

Arrival and Gear-up: Meet your pro artist at the designated outdoor spot. We’ll get everyone suited up in gloves and masks.
The Blank Canvas: We set up our professional mobile graffiti walls or prepare the designated surface for your crew.
Can Control 101: Learn the basics of how to hold the can, swap nozzles (caps), and manage finger pressure for different effects.
Sketching Your Vision: Use light 'ghost' lines to map out your design on the wall under the guidance of our artists.
The Fill-In: This is where the colour happens! Learn how to layer shades and create vibrant backgrounds.
Outlining and Shading: Add the finishing touches that make your art pop, like sharp outlines and 3D shadow effects.
The Big Reveal: We step back as a group to admire the collective masterpiece and snap those all-important photos for the 'gram.
Artist Cleanup: We handle all the disposal of cans and materials, leaving the site exactly as we found it.

Local culture

Hamilton, or "The Hammer," has evolved into one of Canada's most exciting hubs for street art. From the towering murals on James Street North to the hidden gems in the Cotton Factory district, this city breathes creativity. Our workshops tap into this local energy, giving you a chance to contribute to the city's artistic vibe. We love the contrast of Hamilton's industrial heritage against the bright, modern colours of the graffiti scene.

Fun Fact: Hamilton is home to "Concrete Canvas," a massive multi-day street art festival that brings international artists to paint walls across the city, proving that Steeltown is truly Muraltown!

Whether you're local or visiting from nearby Toronto, the outdoor atmosphere here is second to none for a creative workshop.
