How long does a typical graffiti birthday party last?

Most of our Ottawa birthday workshops last between 1.5 to 2 hours. This provides ample time for the initial safety briefing, learning basic spray techniques, practicing on a practice wall, and then completing a final masterpiece. We find this timing is the 'sweet spot' for keeping kids engaged and excited without them getting overwhelmed. If you have a specific schedule for your party, let us know!

What is the minimum age for a graffiti workshop?

We generally recommend our graffiti parties for children aged 6 and up. At this age, kids have the motor skills to handle the spray cans safely and follow the artistic instructions. We use lighter cans for younger artists to ensure they don't get tired. For teens, we ramp up the technical difficulty to keep things challenging and cool. It’s a hit for all ages!

Is the spray paint safe for children to use?

Safety is our number one priority! We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls for every participant. Our artist-instructors are trained professionals who supervise the group closely at all times. We use low-pressure spray paint which is easier to control, and we typically host sessions in well-ventilated outdoor areas or specialized indoor spaces to ensure a safe, fun environment.

Do the kids need any prior drawing or art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our pro artists guide the kids through every step, from 'how to hold the can' to 'how to create a 3D effect.' We focus on the process and having fun. You’ll be amazed at the professional-looking results the kids achieve by the end of the session—even those who don't think they are 'artistic.'

Where in Ottawa do the workshops take place?

We can host the party at one of our partner locations near downtown Ottawa or come to a location of your choice! If you have a backyard or a private driveway with good ventilation, we can bring the mobile graffiti wall to you. We also have access to various legal street art spots around the city that provide a truly authentic urban backdrop for your celebration.

What happens if it rains on the day of the party?

Ottawa weather can be unpredictable, but we’ve got you covered! We have access to several indoor locations where we can spray safely. If you’ve booked an outdoor session and rain is in the forecast, we will coordinate with you to either move to an indoor spot or reschedule. Thanks to our backup artist system, we rarely ever have to cancel a party!

What should the kids wear to the graffiti party?

Dress for a mess! While we provide protective overalls and gloves, we always recommend that kids wear 'play clothes' and old sneakers that you don't mind getting a little paint on. Spray paint is permanent on fabric, and while our gear covers most of them, a little 'artistic splatter' is always a possibility when kids are having this much fun!

The experience

Why settle for the same old bounce house when you can give them a day they’ll never forget? A graffiti party isn’t just an activity; it’s an experience that builds confidence and unleashes pure creativity. Here’s why Ottawa parents love us: ✨

Totally Unique: You’ll officially be the "cool parent" for booking the most original party in town. 🏆
Professional Artists: Our instructors aren't just babysitters—they are actual street artists who live and breathe this culture. 💪
Skill Building: Kids learn about colour theory, can control, and teamwork while making something epic. 🎤
Zero Stress for You: We handle the setup, the instruction, and the cleanup. You just watch the magic happen.
Take-Home Art: Options include individual canvases so every guest leaves with their own piece of Ottawa street art.
Reliability: With our backup artist system, we guarantee your party happens no matter what. 🚀

Step by step

The warm-up: We start with a high-energy intro where kids learn about graffiti culture and safety rules.
Tagging 101: Every guest chooses a 'street name' and practices their signature on paper or a practice board.
Tool time: Our pros demonstrate different caps (nozzles) and how they change the spray pattern.
First lines: Kids get their hands on the cans to practice basic shapes and control under expert guidance.
The master plan: The birthday star helps choose the theme or 'piece' the group will create together.
Filling and fading: Group members learn how to fill in large areas and create cool colour gradients.
The outline: This is where the magic happens! We add the sharp outlines that make the graffiti pop.
Final touches: Adding shines, shadows, and 'second outlines' to give the work a professional finish.
Photo op: The crew poses with their finished masterpiece for the ultimate birthday memory.

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Ottawa might be known for Parliament Hill and the Rideau Canal, but the 613 has a thriving underground street art scene that we love to tap into! From the legal walls at Tech Wall (Slater and Bronson) to the hidden gems in Hintonburg and the Glebe, Ottawa is full of inspiration. We bring that local 'ByWard Market' vibe to every party, teaching kids that creativity has no boundaries. 🎨

Fun Ottawa Fact: Did you know Ottawa is home to several "legal" graffiti walls where artists can hone their craft without a permit? It’s part of the city’s initiative to encourage public art and support local talent!
