Is the graffiti workshop safe for participants with special needs?

Absolutely! We take safety very seriously. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective suits to ensure everyone stays clean and breathes easy. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor or indoor spaces. Our professional artists are also trained to guide participants with special needs, ensuring a supportive environment where everyone can express themselves safely and comfortably while exploring their creative side.

Where in Ottawa do these workshops take place?

We are incredibly flexible! Whether you have a specific park in mind near the Rideau Canal or want us to come to your facility, we can make it happen. We have several 'legal wall' partner locations across Ottawa, but we are also fully mobile. We bring all the necessary protective floor coverings and equipment to set up a pop-up studio almost anywhere.

How do you handle sensory sensitivities during the session?

Sensory needs are a top priority for us. We can adjust the music volume, limit the number of participants, or use low-odour paints if requested in advance. Our artists are patient and adapt their teaching style to match the energy and comfort level of the group. We want to ensure the environment is stimulating in a good way, not an overwhelming one.

Do participants need prior art experience to join?

Not at all! This program is designed for all skill levels. Most of our participants have never touched a spray can before. We start with the basics—how to hold the can, how to control the pressure, and how to make simple shapes. Our goal is progress and enjoyment, not perfection. Everyone leaves with something they are proud of.

How long does a typical special needs graffiti session last?

Our workshops typically last between 1.5 and 2 hours. This is usually the 'sweet spot' for maintaining engagement and energy without causing fatigue. However, we can customize the duration to fit your group's specific schedule or attention spans. We value quality over speed, ensuring every participant gets enough one-on-one time with our instructors to feel successful.

What is the cost for a special needs workshop in Ottawa?

Our pricing in Ottawa ranges from C$40 to C$90 per person. The final cost depends on the size of your group, the location, and whether we are working on a collaborative mural or individual canvases. Because we want to provide the best value for your specific needs, we recommend requesting a custom quote so we can tailor the package perfectly.

What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?

We understand that plans can change, especially when coordinating for groups with special needs. Graffitifun offers a flexible booking policy. Because we have a large team of backup artists in the Ottawa area, we rarely ever have to cancel. If you need to reschedule, just let us know as soon as possible, and we will do our best to accommodate your new date.

The experience

Our special needs program isn't just about painting; it's about empowerment and sensory exploration. Why choose us for your next group activity in Ottawa? Here’s the deal: 🔥

Sensory-rich experience: The sound of the ball rattling, the feel of the spray, and the bright colours provide incredible visual and tactile stimulation.
Boosts confidence: There are no mistakes in graffiti—only "happy accidents" that turn into art, helping participants feel proud of their work. 💪
Expert guidance: Our Ottawa-based artists are not just talented painters; they are patient mentors who love sharing their passion.
Full accessibility: We tailor every session to the physical and cognitive needs of the participants, ensuring no one is left out.
No stress booking: No upfront payment required! You pay only after you've had an amazing experience with us. 💸
Guaranteed fun: We focus 100% on satisfaction. If your group isn't smiling, we haven't done our job!

Step by step

Intro and safety briefing: We start by meeting the group and getting everyone geared up with masks and gloves. We'll explain how to use the equipment safely and comfortably. 🛡️
Meeting the spray can: Participants get to know their tools. We practice 'ghost' spraying (moving the hand without spraying) to get used to the motion.
First lines and shapes: We move to the wall or canvas to practice basic lines, dots, and circles. It’s all about getting a feel for the pressure of the nozzle. ✨
Choosing your colours: Our artists help participants pick a vibrant palette. This is where personal expression really starts to shine!
The outline phase: Whether it's a name or a design, we guide everyone through sketching their main piece using light spray strokes.
Filling and fading: Learn the fun techniques of filling in shapes and creating cool colour gradients or 'fades' that make the art pop. 🎨
Adding the 'pop' factor: We help participants add outlines and highlights to their work, making their graffiti creations look professional.
The grand reveal: We take a group photo (if desired) and celebrate the amazing work everyone has accomplished together. 🏆

Local culture

Ottawa might be known for its historic architecture and political landmarks, but its street art scene is bursting with local soul. From the colourful murals in the Glebe to the ever-changing 'legal' graffiti walls at Tech Wall (Slater and Bronson), the city is a canvas for self-expression. Our workshops tap into this local "613" energy, offering a chance to contribute to the city’s creative pulse. 🇨🇦

Fun Fact: Did you know Ottawa has several "Legal Graffiti Walls" where artists are encouraged to paint freely? It’s a way the city supports urban culture, and we love taking our groups to these vibrant spots to feel like true local legends! 🎨

Pricing

We believe great art experiences should be accessible. Our workshop prices in Ottawa range from C$40 to C$90 per person. This variation accounts for group size, the amount of materials needed, and the specific setup of your session.

Because every group has unique requirements, we don't do "one size fits all" pricing. We want to make sure you get exactly what you need for a fantastic time! ✨
