Is the workshop location in Hamilton wheelchair accessible?

Absolutely! Our Hamilton workshops are designed to be fully inclusive. We select locations with flat surfaces and wide access to ensure everyone can move around comfortably. Whether it’s a public spot or a private venue, we make sure the environment is welcoming and stress-free for all participants. If you have specific accessibility requirements, just let us know when booking, and we’ll tailor the setup specifically for your group's needs.

What safety measures do you have in place for participants?

Safety is our top priority. we provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective suits to ensure no one gets paint on their clothes or inhales fumes. We also use low-pressure spray cans which are much easier to control for those with limited hand strength or coordination. Our experienced artists provide constant supervision and guidance to make sure everyone feels safe, confident, and supported throughout the entire creative process.

How do you support participants with sensory sensitivities?

We understand that every individual is different. Our Hamilton team is trained to be patient and flexible. If a participant needs more time, a quieter space, or a different way of explaining things, we adapt on the fly. We focus on positive reinforcement and the joy of creation rather than rigid rules. Our goal is to ensure every person feels a sense of achievement and has a brilliant time.

Do participants need any previous art experience?

No prior art experience is needed at all! Our workshops are perfect for beginners. We start with the absolute basics, like how to hold a spray can and make simple lines. Graffiti is a very forgiving and expressive art form, making it ideal for people of all skill levels. Our artists are there to help as much or as little as needed, ensuring everyone walks away proud of what they’ve made.

How long does a typical workshop session last?

Our standard sessions in Hamilton typically last between 1.5 and 2 hours. We’ve found this is the "sweet spot" to keep energy levels high without causing fatigue. However, we are totally flexible! If your group would prefer a shorter, high-energy session or a longer, more relaxed pace with breaks, we can easily customise the duration to suit your specific needs and attention spans.

What should participants wear to the workshop?

We recommend wearing comfortable, old clothes and sturdy shoes. Even though we provide full-body protective suits and gloves, graffiti can occasionally be a bit messy, and it’s best to be safe! Hamilton weather can be a bit unpredictable, so if we are outdoors, bring a jacket. We provide all the professional art supplies, including cans, caps, and canvases, so you just need to bring your enthusiasm!

How do we book a workshop and what are the payment terms?

Booking is easy and risk-free! You can request a quote through our website using our Cost Calculator. The best part? No upfront payment is required—you only pay after the workshop is complete. We also have backup artists available to ensure your event goes ahead no matter what. Once we chat about your group size and goals, we’ll send over a custom plan for your Hamilton street art experience.

The experience

Why choose our graffiti program for your next community event in Hamilton? Because we focus on "ability" rather than "disability." Here is why it works so well:

Sensory success: The tactile feel of the cans and the vibrant visual feedback of the paint provides a wonderful sensory experience. 🌈
Confidence boost: Seeing a big, bright piece of art emerge from a blank space gives a massive sense of accomplishment. 💪
No wrong moves: In graffiti, there are no mistakes—only "happy accidents" and layers of creativity!
Professional support: Our artists are not just talented painters; they are patient, encouraging mentors who love sharing their craft. 🎤
Totally inclusive: We adapt our tools and techniques—like using stencils or different nozzle types—to fit any physical requirement.
Stress-free booking: With backup artists and no-prepayment policy, your event is in safe hands. 🏆

Step by step

Initial chat: We start by discussing the specific needs, interests, and abilities of your group to tailor the Hamilton experience perfectly.
Safe setup: Our team arrives early to set up a safe, accessible creative zone with all the protective gear and drop cloths.
Gear up: Every participant gets suited up in protective gear, making them feel like a real professional street artist from the start.
Can control: We teach the basics of spray painting, focusing on grip, pressure, and distance in a fun, low-pressure way.
Design time: Using stencils or freehand techniques, we help participants sketch out their ideas on their individual canvases or a shared wall.
Adding colour: The fun part! Everyone gets to choose their favourite vibrant colours and start filling in their unique masterpieces.
Final touches: Our artists help add outlines or highlights to make the artwork really "pop" and look incredible.
Photo op: We celebrate the achievements with a group photo session in front of the finished vibrant artworks.
Takeaway: Participants get to take their amazing canvas creations home to show off to friends and family!

Hamilton (Kirikiriroa) has a growing and vibrant street art scene, from the stunning murals in the CBD to the hidden gems along the Waikato River trails. Our workshops tap into this local "hustle" and creative spirit, giving participants a chance to feel connected to the city's modern culture. We love bringing our mobile setups to local parks or community centres across the Waikato. 🎨

Fun fact: Hamilton is home to the Boon Street Art Festival, which has transformed the city's walls into a world-class outdoor gallery. Our workshops give you the skills to appreciate these local icons even more!
