How long does the graffiti workshop usually last?

Most our youth workshops in Ettelbruck take about 2 to 2.5 hours. This gives the group enough time to learn the basic techniques, practice their 'tagging' and 'piece' building, and then collaborate on a final masterpiece. We find this is the perfect 'sweet spot' to keep energy levels high and creativity flowing without anyone getting tired. Plus, there is plenty of time for photos at the end!

Is it safe for young people to use spray cans?

Safety is our top priority! We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls to keep everyone safe and clean. We use low-pressure spray cans which are much easier for beginners to control. Our professional artists supervise every second of the session, ensuring that all equipment is used correctly and that everyone follows the safety guidelines while having a blast. Paint belongs on the wall, not on your shoes!

Do the participants need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. We start with the very basics—how to hold the can, how to control the pressure, and how to draw simple lines. Our artists are great at breaking down complex styles into easy steps. By the end of the session, even those who thought they couldn't draw a stick figure will be amazed at the professional-looking art they've created.

What should the students wear to the workshop?

Graffiti is a physical activity, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes and old trainers that you don't mind getting a little dusty. Although we provide full protective overalls and gear, spray paint has a way of finding gaps! It’s best to dress for the weather too, as many of our youth projects take place at outdoor locations or well-ventilated workshops across Luxembourg.

Can you host the workshop at our own youth centre?

We are super flexible! We can host the workshop at one of our dedicated street art locations in or near Ettelbruck, or we can bring the entire setup to your youth centre, school, or local sports club. If we come to you, we use mobile wooden walls or plastic sheeting to ensure we leave the place exactly as we found it—just with a lot more creative energy in the air!

Can we choose a specific theme for our mural?

Absolutely! We love working on projects that have a specific message. Whether you want to focus on 'community', 'diversity', 'sustainability', or a specific local Ettelbruck theme, our artists can help the group design a mural that reflects those values. It’s a fantastic way for young people to take ownership of a message and express it in a way that feels authentic to them.

What is the minimum age for the youth projects?

Our youth projects are generally geared towards ages 10 and up. At this age, they have the physical strength to press the spray caps comfortably and the focus to follow the creative process. For slightly younger groups, we can adapt the workshop with easier techniques or shorter sessions. We always tailor our coaching style to match the age and energy of the participants.

The experience

Why choose a Graffitifun workshop for your youth group? It’s simple: we offer an experience that traditional art classes just can't match. Here’s why we’re a hit in Ettelbruck:

Confidence boost: Nothing builds self-esteem like seeing your own 3-meter tall artwork come to life. 🚀
Teamwork in action: You can't paint a mural alone; our projects force kids to communicate and collaborate. 🤝
Zero cancellations: We have a big team of backup artists, so your event is always guaranteed to go ahead! 🏆
Authentic vibe: Our instructors aren't just teachers; they are active street artists who know the real techniques. 🎤
No stress booking: You don't pay a cent upfront. We trust you, so you only pay after the workshop is done! ✨
Safe expression: We teach the difference between vandalism and art, encouraging legal and respectful creativity. 🛑

Step by step

Intro and inspiration: We start with a quick chat about the history of street art and look at some cool examples to get the creative juices flowing.
Safety briefing: We suit everyone up in protective gear and explain how to use the equipment safely and responsibly.
Can control basics: Participants learn the 'anatomy' of a spray can and practice making thin lines, thick dots, and smooth fades.
Sketching the concept: The group works together to sketch out their ideas on paper before moving to the big canvas.
Outlining: It’s time to hit the wall! Each participant starts by outlining their specific section of the group mural.
Filling and blending: This is where the magic happens as we add vibrant colours and learn techniques like gradients and shading.
The final 'cut': We help the group add sharp outlines and highlights to make their artwork pop and look professional.
Photo op and cleanup: We finish by taking group photos with the masterpiece and ensuring the site is tidy.

Local culture

Ettelbruck, known as the commercial heart of the north, has a unique vibe that blends traditional Luxembourgish charm with a modern, growing urban energy. Our youth projects often draw inspiration from the city's role as a transport hub and its vibrant local scene. We love incorporating local elements into our designs, from the Patton Square vibes to the surrounding green hills of the Ardennes. 🌳

Fun Fact: Ettelbruck is home to a very active youth community and frequently hosts events that celebrate street culture, making it the perfect backdrop for a graffiti revolution! 🇱🇺

By bringing street art to the youngsters of Ettelbruck, we're not just teaching them to paint; we're tapping into the city's history of resilience and progress. It’s a fantastic way to connect the youth of the North with the wider urban art movement happening in Luxembourg City and Esch-sur-Alzette.
