Do I need to be artistic to join a graffiti workshop?

No prior art skills are needed at all! Our workshops in Xi'an are designed for everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned doodlers. Our professional artists will guide you through the basics of can control, lines, and shading. You'll be amazed at how quickly you pick up the techniques and create something you're genuinely proud of. It's all about having fun and being creative!

What materials are included in the public art experience?

We've got you covered! We provide premium spray cans in a huge variety of colours, high-quality masks, gloves, and protective suits to keep your clothes clean. Depending on the session, we also provide canvases or boards for you to work on. Just wear comfortable shoes and clothes you don't mind getting a tiny bit of dust on—we handle the rest of the professional kit.

How long does a typical session last?

Standard workshops usually run between 1.5 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a proper introduction, safety briefing, technique practice, and the final creation of your masterpiece! If you are planning a larger community event or a specific public art installation in Xi'an, we can adjust the timing to fit your schedule. We always ensure there is plenty of time for everyone to finish their work.

Is the spray paint safe to use?

Safety is our top priority. We use low-odour, professional-grade spray paints and provide high-quality respirator masks and gloves to all participants. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor or semi-outdoor spaces. Our artists are trained to supervise the group closely, ensuring everyone uses the equipment correctly and stays safe while having a blast. It is a completely controlled and professional environment.

Can children participate in the graffiti workshops?

Absolutely! Graffiti is a fantastic way for kids to express themselves. We offer workshops tailored for younger artists (usually ages 6 and up), using lighter cans and simplified techniques. It's a hugely popular choice for school groups and family days out in Xi'an. We focus on the "legal and creative" side of street art, making it an educational and high-energy experience for the little ones.

Do I need to pay in advance?

We want to make your planning as stress-free as possible. You don't need to pay anything upfront when you book your Xi'an workshop. We believe in our service so much that we offer 'pay after the workshop' terms. This ensures you are 100% satisfied with the experience before the final payment is settled. It’s part of our commitment to a fun, risk-free creative session for everyone.

Where exactly in Xi'an do the workshops take place?

Xi'an has a burgeoning creative scene, and we can host workshops at various cool locations across the city. We also have mobile setups, so if you have a specific venue, school yard, or festival site in mind, we can bring the graffiti wall to you! We'll help you find the perfect spot that balances local regulations with a great atmosphere for making art.

Step by step

Intro and safety: We start with a warm welcome and a quick safety talk. You'll get geared up in your protective suit and mask so you can paint without worry.
Mastering the can: Our artists show you how to hold the spray can, how to control the pressure, and how to achieve different line widths.
First strokes: You'll start by practicing basic shapes and lines on your own section of the wall to get a feel for the medium.
Sketching the vision: Once you're comfortable, we help you sketch out the design for your public art piece or individual masterpiece.
Colour and filling: This is where the magic happens! You'll learn how to fill in large areas evenly and choose colour combos that pop.
Outlining and details: We teach you the 'pro' tricks for crisp outlines and adding those fine details that make the art stand out.
Adding flare: Learn techniques like highlights, shadows, and 'splatter' effects to give your work that authentic street art depth.
The big reveal: Step back and admire the collective work! It’s the perfect time for group photos and celebrating your new skills.
Tidy up: We handle all the cleanup and disposal of cans, leaving you with nothing but great memories and awesome photos.

Local culture

Xi'an is famous for its incredible history and the massive City Walls, but look closer and you'll find a creative community that is booming! While the city pays homage to its Silk Road roots, the underground art scene is adding fresh splashes of colour to the urban landscape. Our workshops celebrate this mix of "Old meets New," encouraging participants to draw inspiration from traditional Chinese motifs and reinvent them with a modern spray-paint twist.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Xi'an was the eastern terminus of the Silk Road? Today, we like to think of graffiti as a new kind of "Silk Road"—a path of cultural exchange that connects artists from all over the world through the language of public art! 🌏✨

Whether we're setting up near the bustling creative zones or bringing the art to your local neighbourhood, the energy of Xi'an provides the perfect backdrop for a day of spray-painting fun. It's a city of stories, and we can't wait to help you add yours to the wall.
