What is the minimum age for the after-school graffiti workshop?

While we recommend kids be at least 8 years old to handle the spray cans effectively, we can adapt our Eldoret after-school sessions for younger groups using paint markers and stencils. It’s all about developing motor skills and confidence! Our artists are experts at tailoring the difficulty level so every student, from primary to secondary school, creates something they are truly proud of.

Is the spray paint safe for children to use?

Safety is our top priority! We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls to keep clothes clean. Our spray paints are professional-grade but used in well-ventilated outdoor areas or large halls. Our instructors provide a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone touches a can, ensuring a worry-free environment for students, teachers, and parents alike in the City of Champions.

Do the students need to have prior drawing skills?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. We start with the basic 'tagging' and 'throwing' techniques before moving on to more complex pieces. Our Eldoret street art mentors guide each student step-by-step. You’ll be amazed at how quickly the kids move from shaky lines to bold, vibrant masterpieces once they learn the proper wrist techniques.

Can you host the workshop at our school in Eldoret?

Absolutely! We can bring the full graffiti experience directly to your school grounds in Eldoret. All we need is a well-ventilated outdoor space or a large covered area. We provide the boards, plastic sheeting to protect the floor, and all the gear. If your school doesn't have a suitable spot, we can also arrange a session at one of our local creative partner locations.

How long does a typical after-school session last?

A standard after-school session typically lasts about 2 hours, but we are flexible! We can condense it into a 1.5-hour 'express' creative burst or extend it into a 3-hour deep dive for more advanced art clubs. We work around your school's existing extracurricular timetable to ensure the workshop fits perfectly into the students' afternoon schedule without any rush.

Do we need to pay in advance for the workshop?

We make your life easy! Unlike many providers, we don't require any upfront payment to secure your date. You can book your after-school workshop with confidence, and payment is only handled after the session is complete. We believe in the quality of our workshops and want you to be 100% satisfied with the creative energy we bring to your Eldoret school.

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

If it rains in Eldoret, the creativity doesn't have to stop! We usually look for covered outdoor areas or large sheds as a backup. If the weather is truly against us, we have 'dry' indoor alternatives using professional paint pens on canvases, or we can simply reschedule to the next available sunny afternoon. We always have a backup plan to ensure the kids don't miss out.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your after-school programme? It’s not just about the paint; it’s about the transformation. In a city as competitive and driven as Eldoret, giving students a space to express themselves without "right or wrong" answers is incredibly powerful. 💪

🚀 Boosts Self-Esteem: Seeing a giant, colourful mural they helped create gives students an instant sense of achievement.
🤝 Teamwork in Action: Nothing builds community like working together on a massive piece of street art.
🎨 Unlock Hidden Talents: Many students who struggle with academic subjects find their "flow" in the tactile world of graffiti.
✨ Stress Relief: Spraying paint is a fantastic, physical outlet for students after a long day of exams and studying.
🔥 Modern & Relevant: Graffiti is the language of the youth; it speaks to them in a way traditional art classes often don't.

Step by step

The Arrival: Our pro graffiti artists roll into your Eldoret school with crates of paint and a whole lot of energy.
Safety & Style: Every student gets geared up in protective suits, gloves, and masks. Safety first, fame second!
Sketching the Vision: Before the paint flies, we hit the paper. Kids learn to transition their ideas into bold graffiti layouts.
Can Control 101: Our mentors demonstrate the 'anatomy of a spray can'—learning how distance and pressure change the line.
The First Lines: Students start on their individual boards, practicing basic shapes and that classic graffiti 'flow'.
Mastering Effects: We teach the cool stuff—fades, highlights, and 3D shadows that make the letters pop off the surface.
The Final Piece: The students bring it all together, finishing their personal artwork or working on a collaborative school mural.
The Gallery Walk: We finish with a showcase where everyone cheers on their classmates' hard work and creative growth.
Clean Up: We pack up everything, leaving your school site as clean as we found it, but with much more inspired students!

Local culture

Eldoret, famously known as the "City of Champions," is a place where discipline and passion run deep. While the city is world-renowned for its incredible athletes, there is a growing, pulsing urban art scene emerging in the heart of the Rift Valley. From the bustling streets near Zion Mall to the creative hubs around the local universities, Eldoret is finding its voice through visual storytelling. 🎨

Our workshops tap into this local energy, encouraging Eldoret’s youth to channel their legendary local work ethic into a new form of expression. We celebrate the local culture, often incorporating themes of resilience and community into our designs.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the word "Graffiti" comes from the Italian word 'graffio', meaning 'a scratch'? In Eldoret, we’re moving past the "scratch" and turning local walls into world-class masterpieces! 🏆
