Do I need any previous art experience to join?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our professional street artists will guide you through the basics, from how to hold the spray can to creating complex shapes. Most of our guests have never touched a spray can before they arrive, and they leave with a piece of art they're genuinely proud of. It's all about the experience and having a blast!

What materials are included in the workshop?

We provide everything you need to become a street artist for the day. This includes high-quality spray cans in a rainbow of colours, protective gloves, masks, and overalls to keep your clothes clean. We also provide the canvases or walls for your project. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and perhaps some old shoes you don't mind getting a tiny bit of dust on.

Is the graffiti workshop safe?

Safety is our top priority. We use low-pressure spray cans which are easier to control and high-quality protective gear, including FFP2 or FFP3 masks to filter out fumes and dust. Our artists provide a full safety briefing before anyone touches a can. We ensure the environment is well-ventilated and that everyone follows the guidelines to keep the creative process safe and enjoyable for all.

How long does a typical session last?

Our standard cultural event workshops in Dortmund typically last between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of the culture, a demonstration of techniques, individual practice, and the creation of a final masterpiece. If you have specific time constraints for your event, just let us know and we can usually tailor the duration to fit your schedule.

What happens if it rains on the day of the event?

Dortmund weather can be unpredictable, but we've got you covered! We have access to several sheltered and indoor locations across the city. If the 'Ruhrpott' rain decides to join us, we can move the session to a dry spot or use our indoor-safe techniques. We rarely ever cancel—thanks to our backup artists and flexible location options, the show almost always goes on!

Do I have to pay in advance?

We believe in the quality of our workshops, so we don't require any payment upfront. You can book your date and confirm the details with us, and then you simply pay after the workshop has been successfully completed. This gives you total peace of mind and ensures we are 100% committed to delivering an amazing experience for your group.

Can we book this as part of a tourist group visiting Dortmund?

Absolutely! While we love hosting local Dortmunders, our workshops are a huge hit for visitors. Graffiti is a universal language, and our artists are used to hosting international groups. It's a fantastic way to see a different side of German culture that isn't just beer and bratwurst (though we love those too!). We can conduct the sessions in English or German to suit your group.

Local culture

Dortmund is a city that wears its heart on its sleeve—and its art on its walls. From the iconic 'U' Tower that watches over the skyline to the hidden gems in the Kreuzviertel, street art is woven into the very fabric of the city. The local scene is deeply influenced by the city's industrial heritage, blending raw, 'Ruhrpott' grit with modern, colourful expressions. When you join our workshop, you're not just painting; you're joining a lineage of local creators who have used the city's brickwork as a canvas for decades.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Dortmund is home to some of the longest legal graffiti walls in North Rhine-Westphalia? The city actively embraces urban art as a way to revitalise former industrial spaces, making it a true playground for street artists! 🏗️ 🖼️

Our workshop locations are chosen to give you that authentic Dortmund feel, surrounded by the energy of the city's evolving urban landscape. Whether we're near the bustling harbour or in a creative backyard, you'll feel the local vibe in every spray.
