Do I need to be an artist to join the festival workshop?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our professional street artists will guide you through the basics of spray painting, từ handling the nozzle to creating clean lines and gradients. By the end of the festival session in Dessie, you will have created a piece of art you can be proud of, regardless of your previous artistic experience.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for participants?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality protective gear, including professional-grade masks, gloves, and overalls to keep your clothes clean. We use low-pressure spray cans which are easier to control and provide better results for beginners. Our artists also give a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone touches a spray can to ensure a fun, hazard-free experience.

What should I wear to the street art festival?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little messy, just in case. While we provide protective overalls and gear, spray paint can be unpredictable! Closed-toe shoes are a must for safety. Since Dessie can have varied weather, dressing in layers is usually a smart move so you stay comfortable throughout the outdoor session.

What happens if it rains during the event?

Dessie is known for its beautiful highland landscape, but if it rains, don't worry! We often have covered areas or backup indoor locations ready to go. Our team monitors the weather closely, and thanks to our backup artist system, we are flexible. If the weather is too severe, we will work with you to reschedule or find the best possible alternative.

Are there age limits for the workshop participants?

We love working with diverse groups! Our festival workshops are perfect for teenagers and adults. For younger children, we have specific techniques and water-based markers to ensure they can participate safely and joyfully. It’s a fantastic way for families in Dessie to bond over a shared creative project during the street art festivities.

Can I bring my own designs to the workshop?

Absolutely! While we provide all the spray cans, caps, and safety gear, you are more than welcome to bring your own sketches or ideas. Our artists love seeing your creativity and will help you translate your paper sketches into a large-scale wall mural. We provide the canvases or designated wall space to make your vision come to life.

Local culture

Dessie is a city defined by its dramatic ridges and resilient spirit, making it the perfect backdrop for the bold lines of street art. As a crossroads of culture between the highlands and the plains, the "City of the North" has a rhythm all its own. We love bringing our workshops here because the local community has such a rich history of storytelling—we’re just giving you a new, spray-painted medium to tell those stories! ✨

Fun fact: Did you know Dessie's name reportedly comes from the Amharic word for "My Joy"? We aim to live up to that name by bringing pure, unadulterated creative joy to every street corner we paint! 🎨

Whether you're near the Tossa Mountains or in the bustling city center, the energy of Dessie fuels the creativity of every workshop we host.

Our workshop pricing in Dessie is flexible to fit your specific event needs, whether it's a small crew or a massive city festival.
