Is the graffiti birthday party safe for children?

Absolutely! At Graffitifun, safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality protective gear, including gloves and masks, and we use spray paints that are safe for outdoor use. Our professional artists are experts at managing groups of children, ensuring they follow all safety protocols while having the time of their lives. We make sure the environment in Dessie is controlled and secure so parents can relax while the kids create.

What is the ideal age for a graffiti party?

We recommend our graffiti birthday parties for children aged 6 and up. At this age, they have the motor skills to handle the spray cans and can follow the artistic instructions. For the younger ones in the group, we provide extra guidance and simplified techniques so everyone feels like a master artist. It is a fantastic way to build confidence and introduce them to the world of urban art in a fun, supportive setting.

Do the kids need to have any prior drawing or painting skills?

Not at all! Our workshops in Dessie are designed for all skill levels, from total beginners to little Picassos. Our professional artists guide the kids through every single step, from holding the can to creating complex shapes. We focus on the joy of creation rather than perfection. By the end of the session, even the kids who thought they couldn't draw will be amazed by what they have created.

What should the children wear to the party?

We suggest the kids wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little messy. While we provide protective ponchos and gloves, graffiti is an active and creative process, and sometimes a little paint might find its way onto shoes or sleeves. Think of it as a badge of honor from a day of serious fun! Dress for the weather in Dessie, especially if we are working at an outdoor location.

How long does a typical graffiti workshop last?

The standard graffiti birthday party usually lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. This provides the perfect balance of time for a demonstration, practicing techniques, and then completing a final masterpiece. We find this timeframe keeps the energy high and the kids fully engaged without them getting tired. If you have a larger group or specific requirements, we can always adjust the duration to fit your Dessie event schedule.

Where in Dessie can the birthday party take place?

The best part is that we are mobile! We can host the party at your home if you have a suitable outdoor wall or a large backyard, or we can suggest various locations around Dessie that are perfect for street art. We often use large wooden panels or canvases so that the 'street art' remains portable and doesn't leave any permanent marks on your property. We bring the party to wherever you are comfortable!

What materials are included in the workshop package?

We come fully prepared! Graffitifun provides everything needed for the ultimate street art experience: professional-grade spray cans in a rainbow of colors, protective gear (masks and gloves), canvases or boards, and expert instruction from a pro artist. You just need to provide the excited kids and some snacks. We even handle the setup and the cleanup of our materials, making it a stress-free experience for the parents.

Step by step

Arrival and gear up: We arrive at your Dessie location and set up the creative zone. Every kid gets their protective gear—masks and gloves—so they look and feel like real street artists right from the start!
Intro and demo: Our pro artist gives a high-energy demo, showing off cool tricks and explaining how the spray cans work. The kids learn the 'rules of the road' for graffiti art.
The tag practice: Before the big masterpiece, everyone starts by practicing their 'tag' or nickname on practice boards. This helps them get a feel for the pressure and flow of the paint.
Concept sketching: We help the birthday boy or girl and their friends sketch out their ideas. Whether it's their name in bubble letters or a wild character, we bring their imagination to life.
Filling in the color: This is where the magic happens! The kids start filling in their designs with vibrant colors. Our artists move around the group, offering tips and helping with the tricky parts.
Outlining and details: We teach the kids how to add those sharp outlines and 'highlights' that make graffiti pop. This is the secret step that makes their art look professional!
The big reveal & photos: Once the masterpieces are dry, we have a grand reveal. It’s the perfect time for a group photo with their artwork—a memory that will last forever!
Cleanup and takeaways: We pack up all our gear and leave the area tidy. The best part? The kids get to keep their canvases as the coolest party favor ever!

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Dessie, the "Bolo" of the north, is a city full of life and hills, and what better way to add to its vibrant atmosphere than with a splash of new color? From the bustling markets to the scenic views of the surrounding mountains, Dessie has a rhythm all its own. Our graffiti birthday parties in Dessie tap into this energetic local spirit, giving kids a chance to express themselves in a way that reflects the modern, creative side of Ethiopia.

Fun Fact: Dessie is known for its incredible hospitality and "Talla." While the kids focus on their art, they are following in the footsteps of ancient Ethiopian artists who have decorated churches and walls for centuries—just with a modern, spray-paint twist!
