Do students need any prior art experience to participate?

Absolutely! No previous drawing or painting experience is needed. Our Dessie workshop is designed for beginners. Our professional street artists guide the students through every step, from holding the can correctly to layering colors. We focus on the joy of creation rather than technical perfection, ensuring everyone leaves with a piece of art they are truly proud of.🎨

Is the graffiti workshop safe for children?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective suits to keep everyone safe and clean. We use low-pressure spray cans that are easier for kids to control. Additionally, our instructors are experienced professionals who supervise the session closely to ensure the equipment is used correctly and responsibly at all times.🛡️

What should students wear to the after-school session?

We recommend wearing old clothes and comfortable sneakers, just in case! Even though we provide full-body protective suits and gloves, graffiti can occasionally be a bit messy. It is best to wear something you don't mind getting a tiny splash of paint on while you are busy creating your masterpiece under the Dessie sun.👟

Where in Dessie do the workshops take place?

We are totally flexible! We can bring the workshop to your school grounds if there is an appropriate outdoor space, or we can host the group at one of our creative partner locations in Dessie. Our mobile setup includes everything needed to protect the local environment while we paint, so we can set up almost anywhere.📍

How long does a typical after-school workshop last?

A standard after-school session usually lasts between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. This gives us enough time for a proper introduction, safety briefing, practice techniques, and the final creation of a large-scale mural or individual canvases. We can also adjust the timing to fit specifically into your school's extracurricular schedule.⏱️

What materials are included in the workshop price?

We provide everything! This includes a wide variety of premium spray paint colors, caps (nozzles), protective gear, and the surfaces to paint on (like large boards or canvases). You don't need to bring a single thing—just your energy and a desire to learn something new and exciting!✨

What is the minimum and maximum group size?

We work with groups of all sizes! For school settings, we usually suggest a minimum of 10 participants to keep the energy high, but we can accommodate very large groups by bringing in additional backup artists. This ensures every student gets personal attention and guidance throughout the creative process.👥

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your after-school program? Because it is the ultimate way to engage students who might find traditional art classes a bit boring! 🚀

🔥 Boosts self-esteem: There is nothing like seeing a huge, colorful mural you helped create.
🔥 True creative freedom: Unlike strict drawing lessons, graffiti encourages bold moves and big ideas.
🔥 Stress relief: Spraying paint is a fantastic physical and emotional outlet after a long day of studying.
🔥 Teamwork makes the dream work: Collaborative murals teach students how to communicate and build something together.
🔥 Zero risk booking: With our "pay later" policy and backup artists, your event in Dessie is guaranteed to happen!

Step by step

Intro & inspiration: We start with a brief history of street art and look at different styles to get those creative juices flowing.
Safety first: Every student gets geared up with protective suits, gloves, and masks while learning the golden rules of spray painting.
The technique talk: Our pro artists demonstrate how to control the can, change nozzles, and manage pressure for different effects.
Sketching the vision: Students grab markers to outline their ideas on paper before moving to the big walls or canvases.
Color selection: Pick your palette! We help students choose colors that pop and teach them about color theory in the street art world.
First lines: It is time to spray! Participants start with the "fill-in" and move toward the outer lines under our expert guidance.
Adding the details: We teach advanced tricks like highlights, shadows, and "splatter" effects to make the artwork 3D.
The grand reveal: Everyone steps back to admire the collective mural or their individual masterpieces. Group photo time!
Cleanup & wrap-up: We handle the mess and ensure everyone leaves with a big smile and a new set of skills.

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Dessie is a city known for its stunning mountain views and its role as a major educational hub in the Amhara Region. Bringing an after school graffiti workshop here feels natural—the city is already full of life, trade, and youthful energy from the nearby university and schools. We love seeing how the local landscape and the vibrant atmosphere of the Piazza inspire the students' designs. 🏔️

Fun fact: Dessie's name actually comes from the Amharic word for "My Joy," which is exactly the vibe we bring to every workshop session!

Pricing

Our workshop pricing is flexible to ensure every school or group in Dessie can experience the magic of graffiti. Prices typically range from:

Br1500 - Br3500 per person

The final cost depends on the number of participants, the duration of the session, and the materials chosen (e.g., individual canvases vs. a large shared mural). We pride ourselves on transparency—no hidden fees, and you only pay after the workshop is complete!
