Do I need any prior art experience to join the pop-up?

Absolutely! Most of our participants have never touched a spray can before. Our professional artists break down the process into easy, manageable steps. We start with basic lines and shapes before moving on to filling and outlining your masterpiece. You will be amazed at what you can create in just a couple of hours with the right guidance. It is all about having fun and being creative!

Is the graffiti workshop safe?

We take safety very seriously. We provide high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and overalls to keep your clothes clean. Our spray paints are selected for their safety standards, and we always conduct workshops in well-ventilated outdoor or large indoor spaces. Our instructors provide a thorough safety briefing before anyone picks up a can, ensuring a worry-free environment for everyone involved.

What is the minimum age for participants?

For our pop-up events in Dessie, we recommend a minimum age of 8 years old. This ensures that participants have the physical strength to operate the spray cans properly and can follow the safety instructions. For younger children, we can often arrange alternative creative activities like stencil art or marker-based graffiti. It’s a fantastic family-friendly activity that brings different generations together through urban art.

What materials do I need to bring?

You don't need to bring a thing! Graffitifun provides everything required for the ultimate street art experience. This includes a wide variety of premium spray paint colors, protective masks, gloves, designer overalls, and the canvas or wall space for your creation. Just show up in comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a little dusty—we handle all the logistics!

What happens if it rains on the day of the event?

Dessie’s weather can be unpredictable, but we always have a plan B. If we are scheduled for an outdoor pop-up and it rains, we usually move to a covered area or a spacious indoor venue nearby. If no indoor alternative is available, we can reschedule the workshop to a time that suits your group. We ensure that the creative flow isn't stopped by a few raindrops!

Can you host the workshop at my specific location?

We are all about flexibility! While we have our favorite spots in Dessie, we can bring the Graffitifun pop-up experience to a location of your choice. Whether it is a hotel garden, a school playground, or a private parking lot, our mobile team is equipped to set up a professional graffiti studio almost anywhere. Just let us know your preferred location when you request your quote!

How long does a typical session last?

A standard pop-up graffiti workshop usually lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for introductions, a demonstration of techniques, individual practice, and the final creation of your artwork. We can also customize the duration for festivals or large brand activations where people might want shorter, 'taster' sessions throughout the day. We work around your schedule!

Do you offer workshops in other Ethiopian cities?

Yes, we love traveling! While this page focuses on Dessie, our team frequently organizes workshops in Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa, Mekelle, and Adama. We are on a mission to bring graffiti culture to every corner of Ethiopia. No matter where you are located, feel free to reach out to us, and we will do our best to bring the spray paint magic to you.

Local culture

Dessie, the gateway between the Ethiopian highlands and the Rift Valley, has a vibe unlike any other city. Known for its rich history and the stunning views from Tossa Hill, it is a city that naturally inspires creativity. While traditional art has deep roots here, the modern "Graffiti Pop-up Event" brings a fresh, urban contemporary edge to the local scene. We love incorporating local motifs and the vibrant colors of Wollo culture into our street art sessions. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know Dessie's name translates to "My Joy" in Amharic? We aim to live up to that name by making sure every person who joins our workshop leaves with a joyful heart and colorful hands! 🌟
