How long does a typical youth graffiti workshop last?

Most youth workshops in Kaunas last between 2 and 3 hours. This gives the group plenty of time to learn the basics, practice their 'tagging' and 'piece' techniques, and complete a final collaborative masterpiece. We can also adapt the schedule for full-day youth summits or multi-day community projects if you are looking for a more intensive creative experience.

What should the participants wear for the session?

While we provide protective overalls and gloves, we always recommend that participants wear old clothes and shoes. Graffiti paint is permanent and has a knack for finding its way onto sleeves or trainers! Since many of our Kaunas sessions take place outdoors near the riverside or in urban spaces, dressing for the weather is also a smart move for maximum comfort.

Is the workshop safe for teenagers and young children?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. Our professional artists lead every session with a comprehensive safety briefing. We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective suits. We also ensure that the workspace is well-ventilated. In Kaunas, we use low-pressure spray cans which are much easier for young people to control, making the experience both safe and enjoyable.

Do we need to provide a location in Kaunas?

We are extremely flexible! We can host the workshop at various creative hubs across Kaunas, or we can bring the entire setup to your youth club, school, or community centre. If you don't have a specific wall, don't worry—we can set up professional mobile cellophane walls or use large canvases so the art can be displayed indoors later.

Do the participants need to have artistic talent?

No experience is needed at all! Our Kaunas street artists are experts at teaching absolute beginners. We start with the very basics—how to hold the can, how to control the pressure, and how to create clean lines. Most participants are amazed at what they can create by the end of the session, even if they've never picked up a spray can before.

How does the payment process work?

We believe in our service so much that we offer a 'pay after the workshop' policy. You don't need to worry about upfront costs or deposits. Once the session is finished and your youth group is buzzing with excitement and pride over their new artwork, that is when we handle the payment. It’s all part of our stress-free, 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Can the workshop be combined with an educational talk?

Definitely! While we focus on the skills, we also discuss the history of street art and the difference between illegal graffiti and legal public art. In a city like Kaunas, which is so rich in murals, it’s a great opportunity to teach young people about respecting public property while still finding a voice for their own creative expression.

The experience

Why choose a Graffitifun workshop for your next youth initiative in Kaunas? It’s more than just spraying paint; it’s about building confidence and community. 🔥

Boosts creative confidence: Watch young people go from "I can't draw" to "I made this!" in just a couple of hours.
Team building: Our large-scale murals require communication, planning, and cooperation.
Professional mentorship: Work alongside real street artists who live and breathe the urban art scene.
Safe & legal: We provide a controlled, legal environment for youth to explore an art form often seen as "off-limits."
Stress-free planning: No upfront payment, all materials included, and we handle the cleanup! 🧹
Tangible results: Whether it's a permanent mural or individual canvases, the participants leave with a physical reminder of their achievement.

Step by step

Initial brainstorm: We start by gathering the group to chat about themes, colours, and the message they want to portray in their Kaunas street art project.
Safety and equipment: Everyone gets geared up in protective suits, gloves, and masks. Our pros explain how to use the spray cans safely.
Technique practice: Before hitting the main wall, participants practice basic lines, circles, and 'filling' on a practice surface to get a feel for the pressure.
Sketching the design: The lead artist outlines the main design on the wall or canvas, incorporating the ideas from the earlier brainstorm session.
First layer of colour: The youth group begins filling in the large areas of colour, learning how to layer paint without it dripping.
Adding the details: This is where the magic happens! We add shadows, highlights, and sharp outlines to make the graffiti 'pop' off the surface.
The 'Tag' session: No graffiti project is complete without a signature. Every participant learns how to create their own unique tag.
Final reveal: We take a step back, remove the protective tape, and admire the massive collaborative mural created by the team.
Photo and cleanup: We capture high-quality photos of the group with their work before cleaning up the site and heading off.

Good to know

Duration: Usually 1.5 to 3 hours, but we can customise this for full-day events.

Local culture

Kaunas isn't just a city of history; it’s a living gallery. From the famous "Wise Old Man" mural to the quirky street art hidden in the Kiemo Galerija, the city has a deep-rooted respect for urban expression. When we run our youth projects here, we draw inspiration from the city's unique blend of Interwar architecture and modern street culture. Whether we are working near the vibrant banks of the Nemunas river or in the heart of the Old Town, the energy of Kaunas always fuels the creativity of our participants. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know Kaunas was the European Capital of Culture in 2022? This legacy has left the city with even more legal street art spots and a community that truly values the power of public murals! 🏆
