How long does a typical workshop last?

Most of our secondary school workshops in Daugavpils last between 2 and 3 hours. This gives students enough time to learn the basic techniques, practice their 'tagging' and 'throwing', and then work together on a final masterpiece. We can also adjust the timing to fit into a specific school period or afternoon activity slot!

Is it safe for teenagers to use spray paint?

Safety is our top priority! We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls for every student. Our spray paints are low-pressure and professional-grade, and our instructors are experienced in managing groups safely. We always recommend holding the sessions outdoors or in very well-ventilated spaces to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone involved.

Does this workshop encourage illegal graffiti?

Absolutely not! While we teach the techniques used by street artists, we strongly emphasise the difference between art and vandalism. We focus on the history, the skill, and the legal ways to express oneself. Our instructors talk about the importance of respect for public property and how to find legal 'walls of fame' to practice their craft.

What if the students have no artistic talent?

You don't need to be an 'art kid' to enjoy this! Graffiti is about expression and flow, not just drawing perfectly. Our artists guide students through simple steps that help even the most hesitant beginners create something they are proud of. It is a fantastic way to boost confidence in students who might struggle with traditional academic subjects.

Where in Daugavpils do the workshops take place?

We are totally flexible. We can come to your school grounds in Daugavpils and set up mobile wooden walls or large plastic canvases, or we can arrange a session at a cool local outdoor spot. If the weather is looking dodgy, we can even set up indoor sessions if the space is large and properly ventilated, using low-odour water-based paints.

Are all materials included in the price?

Our pricing is all-inclusive! We provide the paint, the nozzles (caps), the protective gear, and the surfaces to paint on. We also bring the expertise of a professional street artist. There are no hidden fees. The only thing you need to provide is an enthusiastic group of students ready to get their hands a little colourful!

What is the ideal group size for a school session?

Daugavpils schools usually see the best results with groups of 15 to 30 students per instructor to ensure everyone gets personal attention. However, we can cater to entire year groups by bringing in multiple artists and setting up different 'stations'. Just let us know your numbers, and we will make it work!

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your students? It’s not just about spraying paint; it’s a powerful educational tool that resonates with teenagers like nothing else. Here is why Daugavpils schools love working with Graffitifun:

Boosts Creative Confidence: Many students who don't thrive in "traditional" art classes find their flow with a spray can in their hand. 💪
Promotes Teamwork: Creating a massive mural requires communication, planning, and collaboration—skills that translate directly to the classroom.
Social-Emotional Learning: Graffiti is a fantastic outlet for self-expression, helping teens process emotions and develop their unique identity. 🎤
Professional Mentorship: Our artists aren't just teachers; they are active creators who inspire students with their real-world passion.
Stress Relief: There is something incredibly therapeutic about the rhythmic motion of painting, providing a great break from exam stress! 🚀

Step by step

Intro and history: We kick things off with a brief, high-energy talk about the roots of graffiti culture and its evolution into modern street art.
Safety briefing: Students suit up in protective gear and learn how to handle the spray cans and masks correctly.
The first spray: Everyone gets a chance to feel the pressure of the can and practice making basic lines and dots on a practice surface.
Mastering techniques: Our pros teach 'fading', 'outlining', and 'filling'—the fundamental skills needed for a great piece.
Sketching the design: Students work together to brainstorm a theme or a 'crew name' for the day’s project, sketching ideas on paper first.
The big outline: The artist helps the group scale up their design onto the main wall or canvas.
Adding the colour: This is where the magic happens! Students work in teams to fill in the piece with vibrant colours and textures.
Final touches: We add the 'highlights' and 'shadows' that make the artwork pop and look truly professional.
Photo op and cleanup: We finish with a group photo in front of the masterpiece before packing up the gear—leaving only the art behind!

Local culture

Daugavpils is a city of layers, from its 19th-century brick architecture to its status as the birthplace of the legendary Mark Rothko. While Rothko is famous for his abstract expressionism, we like to think the modern students of Daugavpils are the next generation of visual pioneers. The city’s unique blend of Latvian, Russian, and Polish influences makes it a melting pot of ideas—perfect for a street art session! 🇱🇻

Fun Fact: Did you know Daugavpils Fortress is one of the few almost perfectly preserved fortifications of its kind in Europe? While you won't be tagging the historic ramparts, that same spirit of "making your mark" on history is exactly what we bring to our workshops. Whether we’re setting up near the Daugava river or in a school courtyard, the local "Latgalian" energy always makes for some incredible artwork. 🔥
