How long does a typical youth graffiti workshop last?

For youth projects in Daugavpils, we recommend at least 90 minutes. This gives the group enough time to learn the basic spray techniques and collaborate on a large-scale mural. If the project involves individual canvases for every participant, 2 to 3 hours is usually the sweet spot to ensure everyone finishes a piece they are proud of. We always tailor the timing to fit your specific event schedule!

Is the workshop safe for teenagers and children?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, protective gloves, and overalls to keep everyone safe and clean. Our professional artists also give a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone touches a spray can. The paints we use are professional grade but handled with strict supervision, making this a controlled and secure environment for young people to express themselves.

Do the participants need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our artist-mentors guide the group through every step, from holding the can correctly to mastering 'fades' and 'outlines'. Whether they are naturally artistic or have never picked up a brush, every participant in Daugavpils will leave with the confidence that they have created something truly cool and unique. It's all about the experience!

Where in Daugavpils do the workshops take place?

The best part about Graffitifun is our flexibility. We can come to your youth centre, school, or community space in Daugavpils. Alternatively, we can help source an outdoor legal wall or a suitable indoor location. As long as there is enough ventilation and space for the group to move around, we can make the graffiti magic happen almost anywhere you need us to be.

What happens if the weather is bad or the artist is ill?

We pride ourselves on being reliable. Unlike individual freelancers, Graffitifun has a large team of professional artists. If the assigned lead artist falls ill, we have backup artists ready to step in. This means your youth project in Daugavpils is guaranteed to go ahead as planned. You can book with complete peace of mind knowing the event is backed by a professional organisation.

How does the payment process work?

We make the planning process as easy as possible for youth workers and organisers. You don't need to pay anything upfront. Once we've agreed on the date and details, your booking is confirmed. You only pay after the workshop has been successfully completed and you are 100% satisfied with the results. It’s our way of showing we are confident in the quality of our Daugavpils workshops!

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next project in Daugavpils? It’s more than just painting on walls; it’s about building confidence and community. Here’s why it’s a win for everyone:

Instant Engagement: Let's face it, graffiti is "cool." It captures the attention of even the hardest-to-reach teens instantly. 🔥
Teamwork in Action: Creating a large-scale mural requires communication and collaboration—skills that last a lifetime.
Safe & Legal: We provide a controlled environment where youth can express themselves without the risks of illegal "tagging."
Creative Outlet: It’s a powerful way for young people to vent their energy and frustrations into something beautiful and constructive. 🎤
Professional Mentors: Our artists aren't just experts with a can; they are great role models who love sharing their passion.
Memorable Results: The group ends up with a physical masterpiece they can point to and say, "We made that!" 🏆

Step by step

The kick-off: We start with a high-energy intro about the history of street art and how it evolved from the streets to the galleries. ✨
Safe spraying: Everyone gets geared up with masks and gloves. We explain the 'rules of the can' to keep everything professional and safe.
Mastering the basics: Our artists demonstrate different nozzles (caps) and how to control pressure to create thin lines or wide flares.
Design session: The group works together to sketch out a concept. Whether it's a team name or a community message, we plan it on paper first.
First layers: The fun begins! Participants start 'filling' the large shapes of the mural with vibrant colours. 🎨
The 'pro' touches: We teach how to add shadows, highlights, and 3D effects to make the letters jump off the wall.
The final outline: Our mentors help the youth add the crisp black outlines that give graffiti its iconic, polished look.
Group photo: We celebrate the finished masterpiece with a massive group photo – a perfect memory for the Daugavpils youth centre! 📸
Clean up: We handle the tidy-up, leaving the space exactly as we found it (except for the awesome new art!).

Local culture

Daugavpils is a city with a deep soul, from the historic fortress to the world-renowned Mark Rothko Art Centre. While Rothko brought abstract expressionism to the world, we’re bringing the modern expression of the streets to the local youth. Daugavpils has always been a crossroads of cultures, and there’s no better language than art to bring people together. We love the gritty, industrial aesthetic of some of the city's areas—it provides the perfect backdrop for a splash of neon colour!

Fun Fact: Did you know Daugavpils has its own 'Street Art Festival'? The city is becoming a hub for muralists, making it the perfect place for young locals to start their journey into the urban art scene! 🎨

Whether you're near the banks of the Daugava River or in the heart of the city centre, our workshops tap into that local creative energy, giving Daugavpils youth a chance to contribute to the city’s evolving visual landscape.
