Do the participants need any previous art experience?

Absolutely! No prior artistic experience is needed to participate in our Groningen youth projects. Our professional graffiti artists are experts at breaking down complex techniques into simple, manageable steps. We start with the basics of spray can control and safety, ensuring everyone feels confident before they start their masterpiece. It's all about self-expression and having a great time, regardless of your starting skill level.

Is the workshop safe for young people?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide all necessary protective gear, including high-quality masks, gloves, and protective overalls to keep clothing clean. Our workshops take place in well-ventilated outdoor areas or dedicated indoor spaces that meet safety standards. Additionally, our instructors are trained to supervise groups effectively, ensuring that the spray cans are used responsibly and safely throughout the entire session.

How long does a typical youth graffiti session last?

A standard youth project workshop in Groningen typically lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This timeframe allows enough room for a professional demonstration, practice time on practice walls, and the creation of a final collaborative mural or individual canvases. We can also adjust the duration to fit into a specific school schedule or community event timeline if needed.

Can you host the workshop at our own community centre?

We are proud to be a mobile service! While we have amazing partner locations in Groningen, we can also bring the entire graffiti experience to your location—whether that's a community centre, a school playground, or a local sports club. As long as there is adequate space and permission to paint (or if we use our mobile wooden walls), we can set up almost anywhere.

What happens if it rains on the day of the event?

Groningen weather can be unpredictable, but we always have a plan! If the forecast looks rainy, we can often move the workshop to a covered outdoor area or an indoor location using low-odour water-based spray paint. We also have a pool of backup artists available, so we rarely have to cancel. We'll work closely with you to ensure the project goes ahead smoothly.

How much does a youth graffiti project cost?

Our youth projects in Groningen generally start from €25 to €55 per person. The final price depends on the number of participants, the duration of the workshop, and whether you want to paint on a shared mural or individual take-home canvases. We don't require any upfront payment—you simply pay after the workshop is completed. Contact us for a precise, tailor-made quote!

What materials are included in the workshop package?

We provide everything! Your booking includes professional-grade spray paint in a huge variety of colours, caps (nozzles) for different effects, protective clothing (overalls, gloves, masks), and the painting surface (either a wall or canvases). You just need to show up in comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a little dusty. We handle all the setup and the cleanup afterwards.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti project for your youth group in Groningen? It’s more than just painting; it’s about building confidence and teamwork in a language that young people actually speak. 🚀

Authentic street cred: Led by real graffiti artists who live and breathe the culture.
Team building: Collaborative murals require communication, planning, and mutual respect.
Boosts self-esteem: Seeing a massive, professional-looking artwork they created themselves is a huge confidence booster.
Legal & safe: We provide a legitimate outlet for urban expression, steering energy into positive creativity.
Stress-free booking: With backup artists and no-upfront-payment, we make the organising part easy for you.
Local pride: Let the youth of Groningen create something that reflects their own community and identity.

Step by step

Intro and inspiration: We start with a high-energy introduction to graffiti culture and a safety briefing to get everyone ready.
Design brainstorming: The group works together or individually to sketch out ideas, themes, and tag names on paper.
Mastering the can: Our artists demonstrate essential techniques, from "fat caps" for filling to "skinny caps" for fine outlines.
Practice run: Participants head to the practice wall to get a feel for the pressure and distance needed for smooth lines.
Outline and fill: The real magic begins as the youth start sketching their designs onto the main surface and filling them with vibrant colours.
Detailing and 3D effects: We teach how to add "highlights" and "drop shadows" to make the artwork pop off the wall.
The finishing touch: Participants add their "tags" or signatures to the work, claiming their creation.
Group photo and reveals: We wrap up with a celebratory showcase of the finished project, perfect for social media or community displays.

Local culture

Groningen is a city that breathes creativity, known for its youthful energy thanks to its massive student population and the iconic Groninger Museum. The street art scene here is thriving, with legal "Hall of Fame" spots like the one at the Suikerterrein providing a backdrop for local talent. Our workshops tap into this local "Stadjer" spirit, encouraging young people to contribute to the city's visual DNA.

Fun fact: Groningen is home to some of the tallest graffiti murals in the Netherlands! Look up at the building facades around the Ebbingekwartier to see how street art has become a vital part of the city's modern architecture. 🏙️
