Do I need any previous art experience to participate?

Not at all! Our pop-up events in Palmerston North are designed for absolute beginners. Our professional street artists will guide you through the basics, from how to hold the can to advanced layering techniques. We provide all the tips and tricks you need to go from a total novice to creating a piece of art you'll be proud of by the end of the session.

Is the spray paint safe to use?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, disposable gloves, and protective ponchos to keep your clothes clean. We use low-pressure spray cans which are much easier to control, and our workshops always take place in well-ventilated areas or outdoor spaces. Our instructors provide a full safety briefing before anyone touches a can, ensuring a fun and worry-free experience for everyone.

What should I wear to the graffiti workshop?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a little bit of 'character' on. While we provide protective gear like ponchos and gloves, spray paint can be unpredictable in the breeze. It's best to leave your Sunday best at home and opt for something casual. Closed-toe shoes are a must for safety while working on-site.

Where exactly in Palmerston North do the workshops take place?

Because our Palmerston North events are pop-up style, we can bring the workshop to your specific location, or we can arrange a central spot in the city. Whether it's a car park, a community hall with outdoor space, or your own backyard, we are flexible. If you don't have a venue, just let us know and we’ll help find the perfect 'blank canvas' for your group.

How long does a typical pop-up graffiti session last?

Our standard pop-up workshops usually run for about 1.5 to 2 hours. This gives us enough time for a safety briefing, a demonstration of techniques, individual practice, and the creation of your final masterpiece. If you're looking for something more intensive for a festival or brand event, we can certainly extend the duration to suit your schedule.

Can I take my artwork home after the event?

Absolutely! One of the best things about our pop-ups is that you get to take your creation home. We usually work on high-quality canvases or boards that are easy to transport once the paint is dry. It’s a fantastic souvenir of your creative session in Palmy and a unique piece of DIY art for your wall!

Is there an age limit for the graffiti experience?

We generally recommend our workshops for ages 8 and up. Spray cans require a certain amount of hand strength and coordination to operate effectively. For younger kids, we can adapt the session with stencils or different materials. It’s a hit for kids' parties, school groups, and even 'big kids' at heart during corporate team-building events.

What happens if the weather is bad or the artist is sick?

No stress! We have a solid roster of backup artists ready to step in if someone falls ill. Plus, if the Manawatu weather decides not to play ball and it's bucketing down, we can often move the event to a covered area or reschedule to a time that works for you. Your creative experience is guaranteed with Graffitifun.
