Do we need to have any artistic skills to participate?

Absolutely not. Our university workshops in Palmerston North are designed for everyone from total beginners to closet creatives. Our professional artists guide you through every single step, from how to hold the spray can to advanced shading techniques. You will be surprised at how quickly you can create something that looks legitimate. We focus on fun and expression, so there is zero pressure to be a pro.

Is the spray paint safe to use during the workshop?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective suits to keep your clothes clean and your lungs safe. Our spray paints are selected for their quality and we always conduct workshops in well ventilated outdoor areas or specialized indoor spaces. Our instructors give a full safety briefing before anyone touches a can, ensuring a worry free environment for all students.

Can you host the workshop directly on our university campus?

Yes, we can definitely bring the workshop to your campus. Whether it is a car park, a courtyard, or a sports field, we just need a flat surface and permission from the university administration. If you do not have a spot in mind, we can help arrange a location in Palmerston North. We are fully mobile and bring all the gear needed to set up a temporary street art studio anywhere.

How do we handle changes in the number of participants?

Since we do not require upfront payments, we ask for a final headcount at least 48 hours before the event. This helps us ensure we have enough paint, boards, and masks for everyone. If your student group grows or shrinks slightly, just let us know as soon as possible so we can adjust our setup. We aim to be as flexible as possible for student organizations.

What should students wear to the graffiti workshop?

Wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting a bit of paint on. While we provide full body protective suits, accidents can happen when you are getting creative with spray cans. Closed toe shoes are a must for safety. Other than that, just bring your energy and maybe a few ideas for what you want to paint. Everything else, including paint, boards, and safety gear, is provided by us.

How long does a typical university session last?

A standard university workshop usually lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of street art, a demonstration of techniques, and plenty of hands on painting time. We can also customize the duration to fit into a specific event slot or festival schedule on campus. Just let us know your timeline and we will make it work.

Local culture

Palmerston North, or "Palmy" as we locals love to call it, is a city bursting with student energy thanks to the massive Massey University presence. While it is known as the "Knowledge City," there is a serious creative pulse flowing through its streets, especially with the stunning murals found around the CBD and George Street. Our workshops tap into this local artistic spirit, giving students a chance to contribute to the city's modern identity. Fun fact: Palmerston North is home to the National Te Manawa Museum, which often showcases the intersection of contemporary art and local history, making it the perfect backdrop for a street art revolution! 🇳🇿
