How it works

Intro & inspiration: Our pro artists kick things off with a brief history of Rotterdam’s street art scene and a safety induction.
Design & sketching: Grab a marker and some paper! We help the crew brainstorm themes, tags, and characters to plan the mural.
Gear up: Everyone gets fitted with protective suits, masks, and gloves. Safety first, style a close second! 🎨
Can control basics: Learn how to create thin lines, fat caps, and smooth gradients. It's all in the wrist!
Outline & fill: Start bringing the design to life on the wall or canvas. This is where the energy really picks up.
Detailing & 3D: Add those professional touches like highlights, shadows, and sharp outlines that make the art pop.
The big reveal: Step back and admire the collective masterpiece. It’s the perfect time for a group photo! 📸
Clean up & reflection: We pack up the gear and have a quick chat about the creative process and teamwork involved.

Frequently asked questions

Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers and kids?

Absolutely! We provide high-quality overall suits, gloves, and specialised masks to ensure everyone stays clean and safe. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor areas or dedicated street art zones in Rotterdam. We use professional-grade spray paint and our guest artists are experts in managing youth groups, ensuring that the only thing getting messy is the mural itself. Your team's safety and satisfaction are our top priorities at Graffitifun.

What is the minimum group size for a youth project?

The minimum group size usually starts at 10 participants for our youth outreach sessions, but we are very flexible. Whether you are running a small community mentor group or a massive city-wide youth festival at the Maassilo, we can scale our team of professional artists to match your needs. For very large groups, we bring in multiple artists and 'backup' experts to ensure everyone gets enough individual attention and spray time.

How long does a typical session last?

A standard youth project workshop in Rotterdam typically lasts between 90 minutes and 2.5 hours. This includes the initial safety briefing, sketching out ideas, learning various spraying techniques, and the grand finale where the collective masterpiece is created. We can also adapt the timing if you have a tighter schedule or want a more intensive full-day 'street art masterclass' for your youth centre or school.

Do we need to pay in advance?

The best part about Graffitifun is that you can pay after the workshop! We don't require upfront payments or deposits, because we believe in the quality of our service and want the booking process to be as stress-free as possible for youth workers and organisers. Once the cans are empty and the mural is finished, we’ll handle the administration. Just focus on having a great time!

Can you host the workshop at our own youth centre?

While we have fantastic legal graffiti locations (walls) around Rotterdam, we are also fully mobile. If your youth centre has a suitable wall or if you want to work on large transportable wooden panels or canvases, we can come to you! We bring all the materials, protective floor coverings, and expertise to your doorstep. It’s a great way to revitalise a local community space or car park into a temporary art gallery.

Do the participants need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for complete beginners. Our professional street artists guide the group through every step, from holding the can correctly to creating amazing 3D effects. We often find that those who claim they 'can't draw' end up creating the most impressive pieces. It’s all about building confidence, expressing yourself, and having a blast with your mates in a creative environment.
